Still trying to figure out what Max is

When we first got Max we said "Shepherd/Rottweiler". But now we're just not sure! We know his mom was a shepherd. What do you think his dad was? Here are lots of pictures.

Here are some more, so you can get a really good idea. He weighs 91 lbs and is extremely friendly and funny, and loves to run (thinks he's a greyhound)! He can jump very high (see the photo with him jumping into the truck - he did that from a sit!). That's why I'm thinking maybe he's not part rottweiler. Somebody said Rottweilers aren't jumpers.

Any ideas? Not that it matters but it's fun to guess.

He looks to me like he has rottie in him as well as shepherd. In this pic especially:

I'm not very good at breed guessing when it comes to mixed breeds, but if I had to throw out my opinion........I'd say, hands down, that he looks like a Shepherd/Rottweiler. Actually, [to me] he really resembles Duke. Two very good-looking boys!

Are you talking about Dukedogsmom's Duke, Moose? Because I thought Duke kind of resembled Max, too. Though Duke looks a little more mellow and maybe a little smaller. Is Duke a Rottenshepherd?

Yep, stacwase...I am. The more I look at pictures of them, the more I see a huge resemblance. Especially after seeing one of the younger pictures of Duke.

My aunt had a dog when I was a kid named Tonsi. Tonsi looked just like Max. I'll have to ask her. My vote is Shephard-Rot too.

Shepherds are generally 80 pounds and (male) Rottweilers are generally 95-130 pounds. From looking at the pictures and comparing weights, my vote would be Rotti/Shepherd as well.

I think theres a strong chance its Shepherd/Rottie.

I was starting to wonder if maybe he was lab/shepherd mix. He just acts a lot like a lab - really friendly, jumps a lot of fences etc. etc.

I tell ya - when I tell people I have a shepherd/rottweiler mix they back off with fear in their eyes! They're like "ooo - that's quite a dog". "He must be vicious". etc, etc. Then when I mention the jumping they say there's no way he's part rottweiler. That's why I was wondering.

One thing I do know - there's not a better dog on earth than Max! No, no - don't even argue with me. I own the world's greatest and most handsome dog!

I think Max is Rotti/Shepherd mix too. I also think he is absolutely gorgeous!
