Well I sure hope it's normal - because Max is doing the same thing. Max hair everywhere. It seems to always wind up in my nose!

    Yup!

Now, what kind of dog is he? What part of the country do you live in? Does his skin look healthy beneath the fur? How long have you had him?

alex the wonder dog has been shedding so badly, i keep expecting a naked dog anyday now. he can give off 3-4 handfuls of hair with each brushing, and the dog fur tumbleweeds behind the doors.....

if you live somewhere where it gets cold in the winter than yes your dog can shed just as much as anyother time of the year.

The main reason for this is because the dog goes out to potty & excersize right? So its cold out there, than he comes in to a warn cozy place. His body is going from warm to cold to warm to cold so his body is producing more fur then loosing it & so on over again & over again.

You can try adding a tiny bit of safflower oil or they also make many vitamins & supplements to improve the skin & coat like lipaderm (sp?) but speek with your vet they should tell you what & how much to use they will ussually tell you this over the phone which meens a free vet consult WOW!
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

Hey - just wanted to show you something gross.

Max is shedding soooooo bad! I gave him a bath, and this is what it looked like when he got out. And I put a good 6 fists full of hair into the garbage as well!

    Thanks for the siggy, Lexi_Lover!

LOL Stacy! That's a great pic.

You've got some good advice here, countrycowgirl. My dog, Kia, sheds during the winter. That cats do too.

I also add some safflower oil to her dry food to help keep her coat shiny.

LOL Joyce-n-Alex! I love your term: "dog fur tumbleweed". Now I know what to call those things that gather under all the furniture legs and everywhere else in my house. Mine mostly shed in summer but definitely do shed in winter too. At least the two dogs that have undercoats shed, the one who doesn't have undercoat, doesn't shed. One big fuzzy white cat is also shedding. .......... Achoooooo! sorry!
