    Sunday!!

I get to take Kiba home this Sunday!! Anyway I have a question..My mom said the kittens owner right now has been feeding them cat food...I know kitten food has extra stuff to help them grow, but is it unhealthy? My mom bought some kitten food for her anyway..just wondering

Just to be careful, we have continued to use special kitten food for the first year but will get regular cat food soon. I figure the estra nutrition is good for them, but I do not think regular cat food will harm them, if that is what you are asking.

I may be confused on what you are asking for. However, if the question is should you feed you kitten, food for a kitten, I would say yes.

It the lady who you are getting them from is using regular cat food see if you can get a little and move her over to the kitten food at gradual rate.

Kitten grow rather rapidly and they need a some extra stuff that help them along.

I found a site that talks about kitten Nutrition:
    http://www.thecatsite.com/cat_health...h.php?a=kitten

This is just one site and that there is a lot of information out there.

Yes , kittens need twice the nutrition of adult cats .They need a higher level of protein to develop their muscles and coat, and they need more calsium, phosphorus, and other minerals than adult cats for their developing bones and teeth. and because they are extremely active, kittens need more energy from their food than adult cats . Adult food wont hurt , but kitten food would be better .

Thanks, I knew the kitten food was better for them, just wasn't sure about adult food.

One other question. Smit always has food out for her. She only eats a little at a time. So how do I keep her and the kitten from eatting each others food?

We had problems stopping adults cats and kittens eating the right food.

The only way to do it would to have set meal times and watch them eat and take up the food straight away.

It didn't work with other George (our oldest cat) loved the kitten food and refused to eat anything else and started to put on weight. The kittens refused to eat the kitten food, they wanted the adult food. So after talking to the vets we went back to free feeding with high quality dry food.
