    These critters are so cute!!

This is my first venture into this area of PT. I was at the pet store today getting food for Duke and I saw the cutest things! They are called Degus. The employee told me they were the smaller and generic version of Chinchillas. I want one! They are much cuter than I could capture on camera.

Their tales are long like a rat's but have little bits of fur on them. I want one so bad.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

I used to have DEGUS, and I do recommend anyone that wants one to read up on them. They are NOT allowed sugar as they are prone to diabetes, and they chew everything. If one ever gets out don't plan on catching it again. They vocalize like a guinea pig too.

Their scientific name is Octogon Degu because of their teeth. You should read up on their teeth, it's pretty neat. They look like this "8" a figure eight.

Their also an exotic animal, so if you do plan to get any make sure as heck you have both male or both females, or you will need to get a USDA license just in case you have babies. They may not be legal in all areas. If anyone wants to know anything else about them let me know, as I have plenty of experience with these little creatures. If you search through my posts you will find more degu pics.
