My uncle that I just visited was involved, he's with the FDNY. He had friends who died on Sept. 11th.

My thoughts go out to everyone.

My uncle said something to me the other day, we were discussing money. He said, "I don't care about money, after 9/11, as long as my family's healthy and I'm healthy, that's all I need. Not money."

He was telling me how he was standing on top of one of the buildings after it had fallen.

My heart goes out to the FDNY, NYPD and all of the families affected by this horrific tragedy.

We lost a family member that horrible day. He was an investment banker, working on the 104th floor of Tower II. It feels like it was yesterday. Rest in peace, Buff. We love you and we miss you

Our flag is out. Unfortunately I don't have anything red/white/ and blue to wear, but, my thoughts will be with the families who lost loved ones that awful day.

I was thinking about the coming 'anniversary' this past weekend and was wondering about all the memorials and rememberances that would take place.........

On Saturday before the Nascar race, Darius Rucker- lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish did one of the most spectaular renditions of the Star Spangled Banner...The next day Marc Anthony did an equally powerful SSB before a football game.

It was great to see and hear two performers sing that song without 'stylizing' it.....they sang it they way it was supposed to be sung......they sang it from the heart..

I thought I was going to be bummed out this week because two years ago 9/11 was the start of a six month bummer for me...not after hearing those guys sing.

The SSB just let's us know that thru everything-night, rockets and bombs- that this song and some cloth strips sewn together in a stars and stripes pattern will always show us some comfort and strength in difficult times.

It's a day to remember and grieve, but it's a day to celebrate
the people we lost, the strength we gained and the life we live.

I remember writing and posting this 9-13-2001....

    Times are changing
    Its seem so long
since weve been struck with peace
They tell me to remain strong
    tears crawl down my face
as they continue to fight about religion and race
    Someday oh i pray
all of this fighting will go away
    depression is setting and overtaken
    as lives are cruely taken
as innocent as the people are
the terrorist dont care by far
they continue to have a ball
as the Twin Towers begin to crumble and fall
The heartless terrorist continue to kill
    with happiness they fill
But the U.S. will make them pay the bill.

It's not great, but I thought i'd post it again.

I am not wearing red, white and blue and I don't have a flag out. Not because I don't care. The wardrobe wouldn't work out and I didn't have time today to put up a flag.

But I did just get back from donating blood. I thought that was a good way of honoring this sad anniversary.
