    New additions, including a rescue!!!

Lat Saturday, my Kissing Gourimi (fish) of 6 1/2 years, took the final swim across the bridge to the big fish bowl in the sky. It is a bit strange not having the big bully in the tank, but I never would have expected a fish to live so long...

So, last night, my husband, Sadie and I set out to find some new fishies to keep our plecto company. We ended up with 2 Silver Mollies, 2 Long-fin Zebra stripped Danios and 2 Mickey Mouse Plattys. I take horrible pictures of fish, so I don't have many to share...but I'll keep trying!

On the way home, we came home a slighly different way then usual. It just happened that garbage night was last night in our neighborhood, and coming a differnt way, you'll never guess what we found...someone was throwing out their cone!!! I spotted it and Ralph decided we should go back. He turned around and just as I was ready to hop out and grab it, someone was pulling out of the driveway!!! I didn't want a confrontation, cause I knew I would have to lecture the people that pets are a life time commitment, that they can't just be put out with the trash!!! Instead we drove slowly up the street, turned around and rescued the cone after they left.

Casey is resting comfortably now on our enclosed porch. We are a little afriad to bring him in the house until we know if he is house trained. The carpet out there is/was so stained from the previous owners, any accidents won't even be noticed!!
It is so nice out now, I am sure he will be fine for a few days til we make sure all the pups are okay with him...so far no issues, but we want to be sure Spot won't try and mark poor Casey the Cone.

    Here's a few pics...

I have tears in my eyes I'm laughing so hard at those pics of Sadie, Cincy, Spot, and Casey. How cute! I've been trying to rescue my own cone, but they always seem to be on the side of highways and I don't really wanna get squished by a truck while I'm trying to wrangle one up. I would go to a cone breeder, but I'd feel too guilty. So I think I'll wait until a stray cone finds its way onto my doorstep and into my heart

    Cute fishies!

Okay, I just want to know how you tell whether a cone is a he or she? Now you did a good thing, Casey could be a boy or girl but you keep referring to him as a he. Are you sure he is a he? Or is there one more girl in the house double the amount of girls vs. boys.

I just hope that next week when you have Snoopy, Taggert and Dazzi that there won't be any tiffs with or because of your new addition.

If Casey is not microchipped, you will have to have that done - after all you had the 3 dogs done.

Well, we were not exactly sure how to tell the sex of a cone, but Ralph decided it was a boy because he and Spot are tired of being outnumbered!! ( and if we are wrong, Caey is a name that can go either way!)

We do not yet have a collar on him, and I do not believe he is microchipped!! I will get on that ( at least the collar part) before he is allowed outside alone.
