    Ouestion: Guinea pigs....

Can they eat oranges? My mom`s new guinea pig doesn`t like carrots, so I reccomended oranges b/c I saw a piece of orange in a Guinea pig cage at Petsmart and I just wanted to make sure that it`s ok for them so the piggy won`t get hurt!

its only ok in extrame moderation, as it is a cirtus fruit and can cause sores around the mouth. dont forget to feed the dark leafy greens!

    Parsley for a piggy?

    Fascinating.

Oranges are really good for piggies because of the high vitamin C content. I never knew that they could cause sores. Both of my boys don't like oranges, so that's not a problem for me. And like cali said, FEED 'EM THE DARK LEAFY GREENS!!!! Mine both love kale, and it has lots of vit. C which is vital to the pigs health. They love parsley and carrots too

Parsely should be given in extreme moderation also, as it is so high in iron, and can cause terrible skin complaints. It took us nearly four months to identify the source of our lot's bad itching problem (the vet tried everything, from oatmeal baths to mild doses of revolution) but eventually we took parsely out of their diet and they are now perfectly fine.
