    Evil hamster? lol

Tonight, I pet Riley and he stood up on his back legs and opened his mouth really wide at my hand. He's *never* done this before, what's wrong with him?

    Thanks.

It's just a hamster thing. He was probably annoyed at being awakened in the middle of the day.

I got bitten by a "friendly" hamster today, and I bled allover the leather glove I wasn't wearing. That's the last time I take someone's word about one of the things being friendly, I'm wearinf the glove from now on!

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

    WolfChan, ouch!

Thanks for your responses. I thought my sweet little Riley went evil on me, lol. From now on, I'll leave him alone while he's sleeping.

Do any of you guys put your hamster in the little ball thingy, so they can walk wherever they want to? Riley absolutely *LOVES* going in that ball. It's hilarious to see him chase Bart. I thought it was just a coincidence that Riley was going in the same direction as Bart, but he went the same way several times and goes towards Bart every time he's around. It's too funny.

I have had lotsa hamster my whole life and I can say that either he smelt somthing yummy on your hand or he was yawning. a hamster wont bite for no reason just like a dog wont.

Our first hamster was elbino & she was the sweetest thing ever, my sister & I being young always woke her up & played with her, she never once bit us, she was 6yrs old when she passed away in my moms hands.

Then a few years after we got Snowball, a shite & black hamster & he was the meanest thing. We could pet him & it was a challenge to feed him. Once he got a hold of me cause I was trying to get his food dish & he wouldn't let go. I lifted him out of the tank set him on the couch & started to tap him on the nose & face in hopes to get him off with out harming him, I was bleeding fairly bad. That didn't work, it was as if he locked his jaws on my thumb like a pitt bull.
Saddly I had to hurt him alot to get him off, I started to pinch him all over his body, pulled on his legs, tail & ears, but it didn't work, so I yanked slow but hard on his wiskers untill he let me go. My sis scouped him up in the plastic ball & taped it shut (the door was broken). & there was blood alover the hamster, his cage, the couch, on the new rug.
My poor thumb bled forever, my sis had to call my mom from work to come over & help stop the bleeding. My mom couldn't beleave what that hamster did. The bleeding stoped 2 hrs later.

omg 6 years old is a very long time for a hamster to live!!!! the longest I have ever had a hamster live for was 4 years and he is still alive . maybe he'll beat your hamsters record

Since Sara was our first pet, our parents took her to the vet every year for shots, the vet thought my parents were nuts. But my parents did it for us. Thats why my mom thinks she lived so long. oh & Sara was very good at getting her shots too. didn't fight much at all.

it is actually not nessisary to get a hamsters "shots" every ear like it is a dog or cat. Because hamsters dont get heart worm., rabies, pin worms, or anything like that. But good for your mom for being such a good hamster care giver lol.
