pets and bay windows?!?

HI pet talk crew! I need some advice on what to do with my pets. We are getting a new bay window put in, but how are we supposed to keep our pets off of the ledge, and keep them from scratching it up? Should we get those things to keep your pets off of furniture or what? any help would be useful and nice! thanks

You know those plastic carpet runners? You could put one upside down in front of the window (so the spikey things are facing up). Your pets won't want to walk on it and so it will keep them away from the window. Be sure you get one with the spikey things close together. Some of them are spaced far apart allowing cats to walk between the spikes.
