Do kittens have a higher body temperature?

Just wondering because it seems to me Lily's temperature is a bit higher than Luna's.

Right after playing, her paws and ears are HOT, and also her nose is warm and dry... First I thought it has been because of the heat wave here, but now it has cooled off!

In her resting periods, Lily's feet and ears are back to normal, and also her nose is wet again, but when she's sleeping in my lap, she still seems to be warmer than Luna. Is she sick or is the higher body temperature a regulation thing because she's still so small?

    Anybody else noticed this?

    Hmmmm

Surely does beat me! I think Ti seemed to always be much warmer than Miley and Juni, but it could have been that his fur was different, allowing much more of the body heat to escape.

I think a vet could answer that guestion for you.

Great pictures of your two, Kirsten! More please.

Cats temps should range anywhere from 100 to 102. At least that's what my vet told me. Besides, when they run around their temps will go up. I don't think it's anything to worry about unless she becomes lethargic, won't eat or drink.

    Kirsten,
Of my six cats, Georgia has the barometer to beat all barometers. Her nose gets bubblegum pink, nearly fushcia, when she is excited. (normally, a little love bite immediately follows, so, I am glad for the warning). Georgie is also warmer than the other kitties....now, I dont know when I realized this (maybe five seconds ago)...but, when I read your post, I immediately thougth, "well, that is like Georgie"...so, maybe like people, some kitties are warmer?

Mishi is my personal warmer -- he always feels more warm than Mitzi. The vet checked him and his temp is normal (around 102 F.) -- he's just one hot kitty! His fur is that silky, soft Maine Coon long stuff - maybe that's why the body heat can be felt through that wonderful silky soft fur. Mitzi has a very thick wooly coat (heavy fur? ) so it's difficult to tell her body temp through that.

Next week I have to bring Lily to the vet for her shots, and I will ask her about the body temperature then.

But since she's acting normal (which means very playful and full of crazy ideas LOL) I think you're right and there's nothing to worry about...
