    Look what I got today!

I bought a husband for Coral at the reptile show today! We named him Bandit. We also found a potential husband for Merle. He's the most beautiful Nuevo Leon I'd seen. He hadn't eaten yet, so we didn't want to buy him. They are going to contact us once he eats.

Here's the pics. Bandit is the smaller Az mountain in my left hand.

Brian almost bought a tailless whipscorpion, despite his mother's adament dissapporval!

I was wondering, what kind of snake is that?
A few days ago I went into our shed and a snake that looked just like that went across the floor. It might not be the same, but those red stripes are hard to miss.

I only ask because living out here in the country we have all kinds of snakes and I aways like to know whats what. Some we let live in our yard because we know they are good, like our indgo under the house.....others we don't let live, rattlers manly. But in all the years here, I have never seen one like, in the shed. If I had an idea what type of snake it was, I could look it up to see if it's native to us, safe, etc.

    Thanks

Foxgal- Mine are kingsnakes. But BEWARE! The coral snake is twice as venemous as a rattlesnake and it resembles a kingsnake.

    There's a quote:

Red touch yellow, kill a fellow
    Red touch black, venom lack.

Here's a pic of a coral snake, but their looks do vary. The shades of red, yellow or white, and black can vary quite a bit.

p.s. The Arizona mountain kingsnake is generally only wild in Arizona. Where are you?

Use caution with this, as it does not always apply.

That's true, it doesn't always apply. It does apply to almost all of the snakes in North America.

I'm in Florida....so I'm guess I'll look up coral snakes and see if they are native to me. I do know that the red strips were smaller on the snake in my shed, but as you said the snakes can vary. So reserching I go. Intill then I'm staying out of the shed

I now wonder if thats why I had a couple of Chickens die. One day their were fine and next they act like they were high on something.....then just died. I wonder if the snake bite them? We were tested for west nile etc and it wasn't that.....so maybe?

Not that I don't have enough to worry about.....rattlers and water
moccasins, during the rainy seasons, now this. Country living....what fun. lol

    Thanks for the info.

My gosh they are beautiful! I just love the colouring. I used to be a volunteer at our local zoo years ago and I remember helping to force-feed a sick snake that refused to eat. Didn't bother me.....no animal bothers me....even snakes.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!
