    Jim's spraying

I have been having a problem with cat(s) spraying. I found several spot that were done by an unknown cat or cats, and I caught Jim making 2 of the spots. but today was the last straw........
As I sat on the bed at the computer (on pet talk) Jim came right up behind me and sprayed on my back!
Well, I now have no doubt that it IS behavioral. He is saying I am his and no one better mess with that.
We have been to the vet after the first incident to rule out medical problems.
I have just recently started the feliway plugins (thanks SAS).
What does anyone know about using an animal communicator? I have been contacted by a fellow rescue volunteer who says she has used one with success in the past.
    Do I contact her?

    I'm sorry to hear!!!

Your Jim surely doesn't feel well in his current situation...when a new cat moved into the neighborhood Nellie started spraying, too...but fortunately only outside in the garden...just to make sure to the other cat knows, who's in charge!!!

I guess Jim is a little stressed by those other cats and if they once start this spraying thing you'll have to do a lot of cleaning...the only advice I can give you is to try to think the way Jim does and to rule out his problem...maybe a serious animal communicator can help you here...I've onced tried it with a Canadian Animal Communicator and it was very fascinating what I learned about Nellie...I can truly admit that our relation is even closer than ever!!!

Maybe even a good cat behaviour book will help as well!

Hope you'll solve the problem soon!!!

Jen, strangly enough I have just finished reading a book by animal communicator Sonya Fitzpatrick. Actually, I got it thinking it was a sort of reading cat body language and sounds book. Anyway, in just reading her book I am not fully convinced about her abilities, or indeed any other persons ability in that way. But, even having said all that, if Jim were mine and doing that sort of thing I would be more than willing to give her, or someone like her a try.
In case you want to know more about Sonya here is a link to her website.

Good luck with Jim, with whatever way you try to solve his problem.

ewww - its bad enough when they spray in the house - but on your back?

My Sid is the only one who will spray if he is over-stimulated or stressed out. So we're very, very nice to him. But seriously - I've heard that cats choose to either mark their territory through spraying or through the scent glands on their faces. Maybe you need to let Jim have a face rubbing session with you - or your back?

I have heard that sometimes if you put the kitty on some kitty prozac it might help.

Wow...strange. Jen, I have Sonya's book...I can mail it to you, or you can meet me at the PT meeting...in September.

I have never heard of a cat spraying a human. I think a communicator might be the thing...maybe. Good luck.

So far, the consensus is that Jim is CLAIMING me as his property. In other words, he loves me. Gee. Thanks a lot!. And I take comfort in the fact that I am not the only person that this has happened too. My fellow rescue volunteer, Kathy, had this same thing happen to her. So I am in good company. Hopefull he will relax and realize that I love him too and I will NOT hate him for being a cat even if I cannot mold him into the kind of cat I want him to be.
