But Chevy will be arriving. Chevy is a 5 week old feral kitten. His 3 siblings are yet to be caught. So any help in the "taming of a feral kitten" department.....please apply here.

So Bagel will be adopted too? Good luck with Chevy. I had one feral kitten, Grisette (looking like a Russian Blue) 20 years ago. She started with us at about 12-14 weeks and spent 3 weeks under the kitchen cupboard. Patience is the word. Chevy's curiosity has to do the rest![]()
Yeah, a big welcome to Chevy! Gotta love that name.![]()
I think, like Barbara says, patience, patience and more patience. I think there have been some good posts previously about going into the room and doing whatever, but ignoring the kitten, just so he gets used to a person being in the near vicinity of him. Maybe sit on the floor and read a book outloud to him or something, but never try and force anything because that will just scare him more.
Good luck and can't wait for pics of the little darling.![]()

Cricket was a feral kitten when she first showed up in my yard, and she accepted me as soon as she associated me with food--I put food out for her and stayed around nearby while she ate. Within a couple of meals I was able to pet her while she was eating. Then I scooped her up and brought her inside, where (after the requisite health checks) she quickly took over.![]()
Bob was another matter. I had to sit on the floor in "his" room and gradually (we're talking weeks here) was able to coax him into my lap. It took several more weeks before he decided to venture out of his room and join the rest of the household. He's still a no-see-um when anyone visits, although he's a big purring lovebug with me. But he was at least three months old when he first ventured into my backyard. At five weeks, I think you've got a better chance of overcoming Chevy's "feralness" quickly.
Bye bye Cashew, Kiwi, Pouncer, and Bagel and happy welcome to your forever homes. You all are growing so fast. Jen, I know you will miss the babies, but you can be happy about how well you cared for them. Please let us keep up with Kiwi if you can. You'll do a great job with Chevy too (and I hope his siblings are rescued soon). Can't wait for news and pictures.

I am so happy the kittens found good homes! They sure had a great start to the kitty life, with your love, and kindness.![]()
I am sure that with a little time, Chevy will be a wonderful kitty!
