    Catnip

    Does catnip affect your cat?
    Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a full management plan in which stray and feral cats already living outdoors in cities, towns, and rural areas are humanely trapped, then evaluated, vaccinated, and sterilized by veterinarians. Kittens and tame cats are adopted into good homes. Healthy adult cats too wild to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat under the lifelong care of volunteers

    All three of mine love it. Hanna didn't really like it until recently. It was funny before, she would guard it from the other cats when I gave it to her, but she would watch the other two cats to see what they did with it. After she noticed them eating it, she tried it. But she'd leave hers after a few minutes and the other cats would eat it. She didn't really enjoy it until she was 8-9 months old.

    My two boys are affected differently

    Trevor loves to eat it (I grow it outside and bring in leaves) and then he rubs himself all over the leaves still on the floor and gets all glassy-eyed and mellow (sort of like a drunk )

    Andy, on the other hand, eats it and then attacks the leaves with his rear feet, while holding it in his front feet, and then he spazzes and goes crazy like a child who is hyperactive.

    They both end up asleep eventually though.

    Neko, Pumpkin and Cookie love catnip!!! Tama, on the other hand, couldn't care less about it. I always feel bad for him when I bring out the catnip cause the others are having so much fun and he just sniffs it and walks away...

    My cats love it but, I had to take it away. One of my cats started peeing on it all the time.

    oh , it sure does! all but Cassie, she just ignores it and the other 6 go crazy for it! the day I brought Cookie home, I gave some to Muffin, and Cookie, but Cookie just played with it... and when Charlie and Patches were kittens same thing, they batted it around, didn't know what to do with it... then one day, wow! they love it! Cookie once thumped Muffin on the head because Muffin got too close to HER catnip!
    when Patches sees the bag and I shake it, he knows what it is and he head-butts my hand! he says mmm give me that! and he is in heaven with it! I have to be sure to put it away, or muffin will tear into the bag and so will Patches!

    "My cats love it but, I had to take it away. One of my cats started peeing on it all the time. " did you ask the vet about why? how often did you give it to them?

    I sprinkle it on the floor for Ebby and she rubs her face in it and rolls around then sometimes she goes all mellow and lazy and at others she runs around attacking whatever toy or ball of paper that is around.
    These are pictures I took last week just after she had a catnip rub, and, as you can maybe see by the look she has in the second pic, afterwards she went into her madcap rush around mode!

    We had a cat once that was not effected by catnip. Morgan would lay on top of the catnip simply to keep Jackson away from it.
    Scott is owned by 5 cats: Jackson, Fluffy, Twidgit, Ashton, Lexi;
    and 3 dogs: Eli, Sassee, Ginger
