Waht if....?

I have been mentioning Oatmeal, the "stray" we are going to take in soon. Does anyone know what happens if...we take him to the vet for the 10,000 mile check up and they find he is chipped? Are they required to notify the owner? And I use the term owner loosely since as far as we know he has no home....

In UK, if you look after a cat for 28 days, it is yours but you have to prove that you have tried to find the owner. i.e. Found posters etc. Scanned for chip.

Get him scanned. If he has a owner, contact them and have a chat to find out the situation. You would want a stranger to do this much, if they found one of your cats.

If he is a beloved and missed pet, he would need to be returned.

If he has no chip or the owner doesn't sound suitable, keep the cat.
