Kito and Abbey were trained when we got them, but Riley wasn't. We used a crate when we weren't home, and were very strict about getting him out every 2 hours, after he woke up, and after he ate.
We also kept a journal of all of his trips out, to get a better idea for how long he actually does wait, how many times he goes a day, and what times. It varies a little, but was very helpful.

When Leather peed, my dad would rub her nose in it :S Yucky, but it worked..

We got Timber when she was only weeks only, but she never once had an accident, and we never trained her either. She just - knew, lol.

I took some time off work when I got Jake. Every second that Jake wasn't in his crate, I had him with me on his leash, keeping a very close eye on him. As soon as he looked like he was even thinking about going potty I'd say "outside!" and run outside with him as quickly as we could go, then when he went I praised him immensely.

It took less than a week to housebreak him.

When he was 3 years old and we got a new dog who wasn't as dependably housebroken, Jake had a few accidents. Since he only did that at night I solved the problem by confining him to the mud room at night until he was dependable again (he wouldn't potty there because that's where he sleeps and eats).

    Thanks for the siggy, Lexi_Lover!

for kai, he's still a bit antsy when it comes to potty training. He's fairly good but it took us a while. Last month, he peed two times in the house..I got really mad cuz it was a bad day for me and the two puddles didn't help..i didn't hit him or anything though..I just had the whole face...and voice going on. I guess it just clicked after that. I think he's pretty much potty trained although he did poop and pee in the house once. It's a new house htough...maybe he's claiming it to himself?

Daisy was trained when i got her, and Molly took some time to train, but in a few weeks, she started getting thr hang of it. Now, she just barks at the door when she wants to go out, if its not alreay opened!
