My only option (sp?) right now :(

ok, I know you are all going to take this bad, but I have find my only options for my gerbils are either:

buy a cage or tank: cant do due to no money, my mom wont let me borrow money either because she says "they are fine together, they love eachother"

Get a divider: I cant, because plexiglass is very expensive here, I checked at home harware. and I dont have the money, and my mom doest want them split up.

Give one away: I am fearing this is what I will have to do. ..

I made a list on my options because you all made me really think about it. I donot want Sage to keep on having litter after litter for her whole life....

I also think I am going to wait till Sage has her first litter and try to keep Jade away till she is done having them. And then let Jade help Sage out with the litter intull they are weened.

By the time they are weened My Sager will be almost Due, then I can give her and all her pups to the local shelter where they can place her in a HUGE Tank way bigger then mine, and find homes for her and her pups.

I will be taking her to the vet first. And i will be keeping a male pup out of her first litter to be hosued with Jade.

I hope you all understand that I am in the slumps right now I feel sooo bad that I sexed them wrong and trusted the pet store sexed them properly. But they didnt. I guess I will know in a couple of weeks when the pups are due.

I feel this is the best option for her. I descused it with my mom and she agrees that it is sad that she'll be having like 100 pups in her life. So after her first litter she is going to find a home with hopefully one of her daughters.

Well, you are making a VERY responsible decision, and you are thinking in the best interest of Sage. It will be hard, and I wish you the best of luck. Our thoughts are wih you.

I do think you are making a good decision, but I also think you need to separate them before she gives birth so that she's not still raising one litter when the second is born.

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

    Good luck in what happens.

but I also think you need to separate them before she gives birth so that she's not still raising one litter when the second is born.
This would also be best but you mentionned you can't afford or find a divider or tank.

I can get a cage from wolf_soul, but only for a couple of days. So ya I am kinda forced to house them together.

Well atleast you are going to wait until the babies are born. A mean owner would give away thegerbil while it's still preggers.

I know of a place where you can get a free male gerbil to house with Jade. Yes, 100% male lol. My friend has three gerbs, but one was a female and they had babies. She's giving away all of them now and keeping the babies I can't convince her otherwise, but if you want them, I'll talk to her..

Do you still want the cage??? I don't want it gone too long, because Icarus is seemingly enjoying his new playroom

oh wait, I wasn't even thinking while typing. Is it jade you are keeping or Sage??? I can ask her for a female gerbil too, she has one. She is also trying to find homes for some of the babies, so there may be a female or male there. Want me to ask???

No I wont need your cage because if worse comes to worse then I will just put him in a icecream bucket and ya hope that he dont escape. I think that Jade might fight another male. I read that it is easier to introduce a younger male to a older male, and REALLY hard to introduce 2 older males.

I think I'll just keep one of Sagers male pups and house it with Jade.

    TM,

You need to get Jade out BEFORE she has the pups and keep him out permantely, if not they will mate again. She will have the 2nd litter before the first lot are ready to leave her.

I think the best thing to do will be to give her to the shelter NOW before she has her pups, of course letting them know she is pregnant. When the pups are ready to leave her perhaps the shelter would let you get a male off them.

Really you should not have brought them home without having an extra cage - what about quarantine or of they had fought?
    Happy to help

    I know

I know that Ishouldent have bought the second gerbil now, butIthought it was the right thing to do when Igot them.

Shell you really think Ishould split them up, butI dont have an extra cage, Iam gunna ask my mom if she can buy me a clear tub thingy with lid and she might say yes If I dont tell her the reason.

you think I should give Sage away right now? She might not even be pregnant, she might even be malefor all I know. the were breeding but Sage tryed to mounbt Jade a couple of times as well.

So ya, what do you think?
