~*~ Different Kinds of Collars and Leashes ~*~

Hi! I just want to know what people think about different kinds of dog collars and leashes(including retractable leashes) My dog, Sadie, has both. 4 nylon leashes, 2 retractable leashes, and 1 chain. (I never use it, though!) She also has a red snap collar. Just want to know!

On Belle I use a harness. She has a way of taking collars off. Justin on the other hand, I have to use collars on, because he takes off harnesses. Mama has a regular collar. So does Blue. We always put them on loose enough that they can take them off if they have too.

Reece has a regular collar which he doesn't always wear. I use that and a regular leash when I take him out. I am having a hard time finding a harness small enough to fit him. I think I might have to get a cat one for him. I prefer harnesses on smaller dogs because they seem so delicate and if for some reason I had to yank the leash, I'd be afraid of hurting the little neck. Reece is excellent on a leash though so I doubt I'll ever have any problems with him on a regular collar.

Daisy has a personalized blue collar we had made for her, saying "Daisy" and our phone number. It snaps together with one of those black clip things. She wears it all the time except at night. Since humans don't wear necklaces to bed, I didn't think it right to make a dog go to bed with her collar on! I take it off each night and place it at the door so that whoever lets her out in the morning can see it and put it back on. She has two other collars, one with and Indian design on it and one red and white bandana, but she never wears them, except for the bandana on special occasions! As for her leash, we use a thick green braided cloth leash. She doesn't usually pull too hard so any leash will work pretty well with her. If she sees you even touching her leash, she comes running!

Around the house Perry and Daisy wear collars with their tags on, if we take them on vacation or on an outing they wear a harness always, we usually use retractable leashes on outings, but a small leash to go shopping etc. We also have a special harness that we use when they are in the back seat of the Explorer, we hook them up to the seatbelt onto the harness.

To see Sadie's harness, go to www.allpets.com, then, on the left-hand-side, there will be a thing that says, "product search", then type in the number, 320404, then you'll see it!

To see Sadie's collar, go to www.DrsFosterSmith.com, and on the left-hand-side, there will be a thing that says, "shop online", and you can scroll down it. Scroll down it a bit, then go to "Collars/Laeds", click on it, go to "Nylon Collars and Leads". Then scroll down the page a little bit, and click on "Nylon Patterned Collars & Leads", and THEN you'll see the checkered collars, and sadie has the red one!!! I hope that isn't to confusing for you!
    Thanks!!!

Carl has his training collars - a couple choke chains and a pinch collar

He has a harness for tracking

His red buckle collar that he wears around the house

We have 6 or 7 leashes.

4 nice 6' leather ones - these are the ones we use most of the time.

2 nylon leashes that I HATE! They slip out of your hands and don't loop in your hand like the leather.

We also have a chain leash that we got when we had our yellow lab who chewed everything. I never use this one because it hurts your hands, and it's also real short.

My dogs don't necessarily have their "own" leash, we just pick up whichever leash we can find, and use that.

Hannah has a red choke collar that we rarely use, if we use it I clip both rings with the snap so it doesn't tighten.

She has a red harness we use for walks in other fields, and to use in the car and to go to the stores and stuff.

Then she has her blue nylon buckle collar with all her tags she wears everyday.

We have nylon leashes to match every collar and a retcactable leash that we don't use often. She has broken a couple and I don't really like them.

Copper has his purple nylon black snap on collar with his tags he wears all the time and a red harness for walks in other fields. And nylon leashes to match each one.

They each have an ID tag their rabies tag and a gardian angel (its a dog with wings, its to keep then safe) on their everyday collars, Hannah also has a bell on hers so I know where she is at all times.

The short answer is to save their neck! Also because we want the dog to learn that when we put the harness on that means that we're going to go tracking.

Hans has a different collar for every season. He has a Christmas collar, a Halloween collar, an Easter collar, and a Valentine's day collar. He also has bandanas for each season as well as a blue one with his name on it. Rocky also had all of these things to match.

What kind of dog is Hans? Does he have a "regular collar", that he just wears around the house, with his i.d. tags? And what about a leash? Just curious!! Sadie is getting 4 bandanas in the mail from Allpets catalog, she already has 2 bandanas! I'd like to get her a Christmas collar, though!!

Hans is a miniature schnauzer. He has a regular collar he wears around the house. It's a black and white cow pattern. Very cute!!! He has a nylon leash. He always has his ID tags on. We switch them from collar to collar. Rocky had a halty collar and a nylon collar. When I walked him I put both of them on him and 2 leashes. He was much stronger than me.
