    CAGE HELP needed

I am looking for a new rat cage for all the ratties to live in. I saw an extremely nice PWC 48Lx24Wx36H cage at the pet store and I like it a lot, but I would like to shop around first.

I have only heard of Marchioro, Super Pet, and Martin's cages, do you know of any other nice cage companies? I have already looked at Martin's and I don't like any of their cages. If you know of any nice cage companies/their websites...let me know. THANKS!!

I haven't heard of any other brands besides those you mentioned. However, another cheaper option is DIY cages.

Here are some links to get you started:
    http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Shire/5397/camelot.html
    http://www.dapper.com.au/cages.htm
    http://www.backblast.com/rats/ratcages.htm
    http://www.geocities.com/sparkyrat/rat8.html
    http://www.ratfanclub.org/cagepln2.html

It might be kind of fun to do a project like this, then you can make it fit whatever space you want to put it in.

UPDATE: Another brand is FernCage and their website is http://www.ferncage.com
Their largest cage is only 36Lx24Wx46H though

Also see Cages by Peter Koch (ferret cages, but some of them might work for rats): http://www.cagesbykoch.com/cages.html

also this cage by MIDWEST http://www.petsmart.com/products/pro...S_pet_supplies

Try Quality Cage in Portland Oregon, they have great cages! A little more than Martins cages but way worth it!

I have 6 girls and 2 boys. They range from 1.5 years to 2 months. My males are neuterted, so they can't reproduce.

Luckies mentioned Quality Cages. I love them. That's what I have for my ferrets. Here is there cage. It's 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide.

It has 3 basic sections sold separately that you stack all together. Each section has one main floor and a ramp to an enclosed balcony(which I love because my ferties always rolled off the balconies of my old Martin's when playing) What I also love is the ramps that lead to each section...you can leave them down for one big cage or attach them up to separate the sections...very useful if you don't want to take them out while cleaning...simply close them off in one section and clean the other or it's useful to separate if you need to quarentine one for awhile to watch behaviour.
    Here's the website:

Of course, I'm describing their ferret cage. They have cages for ratties to, but none as big as the ferret quality cage.

Another awesome site for cages is Cages by Koch:

These are also for ferrets. I'm not sure of the wire spacing for the floors, but they could probably be easily modified if you need smaller wire floor spacing for small ratty feet.

Good Luck. Hope you find what you're looking for.

    Thanks for all the info.

I need a cage that is more wide than taller. I have a 5 foot Super Pet, and I hate it. That's why I love that cage at the pet store, which I mentioned in my first post, it is 48 inches across. This sucker is huge...I think I am going to stick to that one.

Why not build your own cage? That's what I'm going to do when I'm older, so there's lots of room, and it's not too expensive! My uncle is going to help me, he builds antiques for a living.
