    Advice needed

We are a bit worried about our cats, any advice would be welcome.

George has hidden in a pet carrier in the living room, to get away from Milly. (normally he hates this box and runs when he see it)
He looks so uphappy and fedup.

This is because Milly is bouncing off him all the time. We are trying to head her off by playing etc but she really wants to play with George. Yesterday she spent ages rolling in front of him trying to get a reaction. George growled and chased her into the spare room and came downstairs quite smug with himself. Two minutes later Milly is bouncing on him again.

George sleeps in our room without Milly and when he gets fed up we seperate them, to give them both a break but I am really concerned this isn't good for either of them.

We have bought a cat tree (hopefully to entertain Milly) and on advice of a local behaviourist, we have got some herbal relax tablets for Milly (just to calm her temporary)

I just feel so guilty that I have drugged my pet, she isn't doing anything wrong, she's just being a young cat.

The behaviourist also suggested that we adopt another young female cat, so Milly will have someone to play with. We do have the space/money for a third cat, if that is the way we decide to go. But me & Steve can't decide if bringing in, yet another animal into the house is the right thing to do. God forbid..both cats might jump at George, although the behaviourist said this is unlikely to happen.

We just don't want to make the situation worst.

Ps. When Milly is sleeping/calm, they get on and sleep on the same bed or sofa and there is no real physical aggression on either side but George is getting fedup

First of all, please don't feel guilty about the herbal calming aid. Herbal remedies aren't knock-out pills. She's probably pretty frustrated over her efforts to get George to play with her, so it won't hurt to settle her down a little.

As for getting another kitty, I would expect them to play together and ignore George. Around here I've noticed that the younger ones romp with each other and leave the older cats alone. I'm not sure whether it's best to get another female or a young male--sometimes females don't get along as well with other girls.

Best of luck with both sweet kitties!

I used Rescue Remedy a couple of times during the transition between George (my Gorgeous George) and Moo. It's a natural herbal remedy that calms people and cats down. I gave some to both George and Moo. It worked like a charm.

As far as getting another kitty, I'd wait to see how it works out between Milly and George first.

    Good luck!

When I've had a cat and a kitten, I get a collar with a bell to put on the kitten. This at least allows the adult cat to be aware that the little one is getting ready to pounce.

Other than that, I'd just make sure that you give Geourge a little quality time each day away from Milly.

Finally, did he really chase her, or just play a game of chase? My kitties chase each other all the time but I know they are just doing it for fun because they don't go at full speed or they are really noisy in the process.

No he growled and walked slowly and delibrately towards her. It didn't look like playing.

I vote for the 3rd cat (I know......no one is surprised I said that). But honestly. I think she NEEDS a playmate and George is not going to fit the bill. George may be like Fern is in this house. Fern does not want to be played with !!!!! And 99.5 % of the time no cat bothers her because there is ALWAYS someone else who DOES want to play.
    (just my opinion)
