    Update on project 'Introduction'

    Just a quick update.

George & Milly are now eating in the kitchen about a metre apart, although they keep glancing at each other.

Milly is spending more time downstairs in the living room rather than the spare room/upstairs landing.

George has had nearly 24 hours a day attention and extra treats from us and isn't sulking much and seems more relax.

My partner says when he woke up both cats were at the foot of the bed asleep (not together). Milly isn't meant to be in the bedroom but my other half forgot to shut the door back from a late bathroom visit and she snuck in.

They both sniff each other and watch each other all the time.

Milly is still batting George occassionally but I'm starting to think (hope) it is playful, as she does the same to the cat toys.

George has been very good, he only growled at her once, when she jumped at him unexpectedly and she backed off.

But apart from sniffing they don't touch each other, they will pass each other 10 cm (4 inches) apart with no problems.

Early days yet. Fingers crossed they'll be friends yet.

Hopefully, they will get along very soon.
    Sas's cats already eat together.

    I hope you are right.

In fact SAS's cats inspired us to get a friend for George, We had thought about it for a few months.

Also those beautiful photos of the black & white cats, Danny & Guiness.

Sounds like everything is going well. This behavior is normal, and I'm sure they'll be over it soon enough. They may need the one big spat to completely sort things out, but once they do that, things should be good. They may not end up being best of friends like Dandy & Guiness and Maya & Inka, and as a matter of fact, I almost think these kitties are special and the ones like mine that co-exist but aren't all lovey dovey are more of the norm. Hopefully with a little more time your two will be like Dandy & Guiness and Maya & Inka....wish mine were.

Good luck and do keep us posted - and you know how a picture is worth a thousand words.

    Tubby & Peanut's Mom...

Was that a hint for a picture.....

I am recharging the batteries for our camera. I'll post another photo together (if possible) tomorrow.

I think you're right about the majority of cats just tolerating each other.
I just didn't want George to be so unhappy as he seemed. My partner says I should realise that George (though miffed) is acting more woeful cos he gets more cuddles & treats, that way. lol.
I'm well trained. But they both seem happier & more relaxed today and that is all that matters.

PS. We can come to the forum for our quota of cute cuddly cats pairs. Each cat is special in it's own way. And I'm sure you'll agree, we wouldn't swap our cats for the world.

    Great news! Where's the pictures????
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

I think they're on their way If you just see it from a distance as we do you can easier see the progress.

    Barbara...

    I hope you are right.

I have just read that cats touching nose to nose is friendly behaviour..Is this right?

As George & Milly often touch noses, I thought that was just sniffing behaviour.

It sure sounds like they're making good progress. I find it very interesting to sit back and watch how and when a new kitty will be accepted. I've only owned Cirrus since March 10th so there are still some battles going on from time to time. Good luck and please keep us updated.
