Has any one heard of this?

One of my Chihuahua's came into heat for the first time when she was 14 months old, not unusal. Then she started coming into heat every other month. At first I thought, well maybe she didn't go long enough the first time. But, when it happened for the third time I made an appointment to have her spayed. I told the receptionist about it and she said, "If a female is around a male that is not nutered she can make herself come into heat." I have never heard of this before. I just rescued a small male from the interstate, not nutered, a few weeks before her third heat. So that doesn't explain the second time. Has anyone else ever heard of this? Thank you all in advance.

I have never heard of that, I had an intact female living with in intact male for 2 years, and nothing of the sort ever happend.. but then its not as if Misty has ever WANTED to mate with Blair, he has only been neutered for 2-3 months now, but when he was intact he walys tryed to get with Misty because she would have no part in it, it made keeping them seperate simple lol

rothfl Cowgirl is the same way. She wanted and still wants no part of it. I forgot to say that she was around her brother also. He was undecended, took care of that at the same time. But still the fact is, I have never heard of this.

Its not unheard of. Although your seems odd that she went in so often!
I have females who have thier own heat cycle and sometimes will go into heat when the other one does as well. Makes training difficult for me cause theres too many horomones in the air for them to concentrate. Going through this right now as a matter of fact! My males are beside themselves! They are truley pathetic! LOL
Little do they know I have a different male picked out and thier suffering will not end. Buwahahahaha!!!!
