    high prey drive... -eek-

My siberian has a high prey drive as most of you know, most siberians do.. (most dogs do as a matter of fact) I want to get a rabbit soon.. I have never took Tikeya *my siberian husky* to obedeince training .Is their anyway I can trian her to not pay attention to prey animals..??żż I really want to adopt a bunny from the spca and I dont want Tikeya to kill it.. .. .. She has never seen a bunny befor , how do you think shell act?

When she first was introduced to a kitten *a little orangre cute fluffy kitten* she was licking her lips and whining .. She wanted to eat it.. why ? Does anyone eles have this problem?I know it occurs because she never was assocated with smaller animals as a baby right? I wish I wasnt so dumb and I wish I would have showed her more kitties and bunnys as a puppy... What can I do to Fix this trubble behavior.?.żż

I really can't offer any advice, just a story. My dogs both have a strong prey drive--shibas were originally bred for rodent hunting, and Abbey, well beagles hunt. They sit out on the patio and go CRAZY if they see a bunny--running back and forth, barking whining and carrying on--I don't know what would happen if they could get to it!!

I hope someone can help you out, it seems you really want the bunny!!

No, we only have the two dogs. But, my mother in law has a tiny pomeranian (4 pounds), and when Kito met him, he went for him like he wanted to eat him
My dogs are never off leash though, and they don't have a yard to roam, as I am in an apartment

Last night I was cleaning my hamster cage .. Cuddles my syrian hamster is pregnant and She is due tomorow so I had to clean her cage.. Tikeya was in my room while I was cleaning it.. Cuddles cage is an aquarium and it doesnt have a lid .. Anyways Tikeya wanted to eat Cuddles I could tell, she was licking her lips and crap, I was ;like "NO Tikeya" and she rolled onto her back cowering. This is a good sign .. I think Tikeya only has a low prey drive not a high one because if it were high then she would have no listend to me and she would have killed my hamster, right? I think that She doesnt actully like the tast of animals she just likes the chace ... Do you think I could be right?

It's very unfortunate for your dog, you, and your bunny that you did not listen to the advice we gave you in this thread and others.

I really though that my sib would be easy to get out of a prey drive but /I guess not. I am sorry as well, I wish I never got the rabbit. It would have been better off in a dirty old shelter rather then with me for a week.. ... Well you guyz dont have to worrie any longer because I am never getting a rabbit again..
