How do I find a bunny

I live in Florida many miles from any city and I am wanting an angora bunny but I don't know where to go to find this breed we have a few rabbit breeders here but they can't tell me. I am wandering if angoras are able to live here with the weather so hot. I would have her in the house so it's climate control. We have no pet stores here that I have found. Tried looking in the news papers but no luck. I have one bunny, (they won't be together) but the man who gave her to me only has that type of rabbit.

don't be discouraged if there are no breeders right near you, breeders who show travel far to show their animals and one may be be coming near where you live at sme time. I am sure a lot of the breeders have e-mail addresses so just ASK. It can't hurt.

And of course, try petfinder.com and search for your area. You never know what you might find.

I know this is a controversial statement to make but wouldn't it make you feel better to KNOW you've rescued a bunny--any bunny--- in desperate need of a home rather than dealing with a breeder in order to get a particular breed or a particular color that you think will make you happy? There are many rescue organizations and it's possible they may have an little angora bunny but don't overlook all of the not-so-glamourous bunnies either.

Bunnies are a lot of work to begin with and you need to remember angora's are even more work as they need to be brushed every day. Just something to think about......

    Think I found the bunny!

Thank you to every one who replied to my post. I do think I have found the bunny I have been wanting! It is an opal angora. I am very aware of the time I will be spending with him/her combing etc... that is one reason I want one, to spend time with. I don't work so time isn't a problem. If time does become a problem I'll just have to spend less time on the computer......lol......As far as shelters go, I am the closest thing to a shelter this small town has for close to 100 miles, the funds just aren't there for the town to have one, or the surrounding towns. It is a shame because so many animals as just running around, getting hit on the highway or by people just shooting a stray because they are afraid. I have taken in a few myself and also I have found homes for many. I know the feeling of taking in an animal and also of the feeling of finding one a home. So again thanks to every one who responded!
