    Rocky's toe again?

NOt shure if you guys remember, but
Rocky split is nail 1 1/2 years ago,
and what was supposed to be a simple
surgery on his toe, his recovery took 3 months
going back and fourth to the vets and his
toe almost had to be removed.

Well this morning Mike let him back into the house
and he jumped on our bed for pets.
I got up to feed the dogs, and I barely touched
his toe and he started crying in pain.
(remember Rocky is the biggest baby on
    earth)
I noticed he had blood on the bottom of his paw.
I took a look and the blood was comming from
the quick of his toe. I could not
get a close enough look to see if his nail had
    split again.
I put some Quik, on it to stop the bleeding and
after that he would not let me get a good look.
I bandage his paw up, so hopefully I will
be able to get a better look tomarrow.
So keep your fingers crossed his toenail is not split,
so it can heal on it's own.

Keep us posted on what happens--I don't think I was around for the first round of surgery, but it sounds tough.
Hope your toe heals soon Rocky!!!!!

Thank you lovemyshiba and Sandra for
taking the time to wish Rocky well.
I took his bandage off last night so air can get freely
to his paw. I did not get much sleep last night because
I slept near his side of the bed.
I could hear him licking his paw and I would
have to tell him to knock it off.
This morning he semi let me look at it, and
I had a hard time telling which toe out of 2 was
the injured one. It did not look like his nail was split,
    but I am not 100 % shure.
I have a feeling he must have scrapped his quick
    on the fence or something)
I put his bandage on again, and I have not
made up my mind if I will take him to the vet
    just for peace of mind.

Rocky and I thank you for
    your well wishes.

    Rocky

I'm catching up this morning. I do remember, very well, the problems with Rocky's toenail. I hope this isn't the same thing! We hurt when they hurt. I hope he will be feeling better soon, and if not, that the vet can figure out what is wrong!!!

We'll be thinking of him (and you), and hoping that everything will be improving soon!

Thanks so much for the update Karen. I'm sorry you had such a restless night. Poor Rocky. Doggies seem to love to lick their wounds and it sure makes us Mom's fret. Hopefully it's not split. Maybe it's a good sign that he let you look at it more closely today?? I hope so! Please keep us updated! Hugs to the big, beautiful Rocky boy!! Sandra, Cody and Star!

    Thanks you guys.

Well, Even though his toe nail didn't looked split,
I took him to the vet for "Peace of Mind".

Rocky HATES going to the vet.
So I figured while I was their, he might as well
have his yearly check up a bit early, and his heart-worm
    test done too.
The Vet could not see anything wrong with Rocky's nail,
and said his toe should be feeling better in a few days.

(now if Rocky would stop licking it, he is making
the area inbetween his toes raw and he is
    upsetting his tummy.)
I sprayed some bitter apple around the fur today.

    Thanks again.
