    Your Cat.My Dog.Our Problem.

    This is a interesting article I read about how animals
    can play into everyday human relationships.( how
    to blend two very different households when it comes
    to cats and dogs)

    I could have wrote that story! I was a single person with 2 cats and a dog when I met my boyfriend, who has two dogs. I moved into his house in 1995. Our dogs had all met, but when I moved in we had to put up some doors to separate one part of the house from the other so the cats could have someplace private to go.

    We all get along pretty good now, one of my original cats has gone to the Rainbow Bridge, , but we got 2 more cats, bringing the total to 3 dogs and 3 cats.

    For people like us (animal lovers) it is definitely something to think about. I don't know what I would have done if any of our animals had proven to be not compatible with the others.

    boscibo,

    Yes I think many people can run into problems when
    they combine households. Another short article on the
    subject was this one;

    It took awhile for the cats to come around. The way our house is, the cats can go anywhere they want, but the dogs are limited to the living/dining areas, the kitchen, and the basement. The cats took a couple of years to really feel comfortable around the strange dogs. Now, Abby spends most of her time around the dogs, she seems to prefer their company to the other cats. Or maybe she just like bossing them around, I don't know.
