Thankful today
For peaceful homes with warm insides
For cats, even those who hide when company comes
But leave their precious toys as evidence
For dogs on their first holiday with a loving home
And for old dogs who have been spoiled so long
That love is all they know, and all they need
For one small, sweet brown bunny
Thankful this day
For the wild birds for whom I leave seed
For the moose in her neighborhood
And the fisher that stalks their hill
Wildness close at hand
Thankful today
For family, for love, for memories
Of too much food, of so much love
For laughter and new stories
For those we miss, but whose love lives on
Thankful this day
For the love
of animals
of family
of strangers
and
Thankful this day for all of you.
