daddy's little girl and mommy's little boy

Has anyone else ever noticed a gender preference with their cats? Our little girl cat Jan just adores my husband. She lives for him to come home. She jumps on his lap, she will sleep next to him (but away from me!). Conversely, the boys seem to prefer me.

I don't know if we treat them differently, or if there is a gender thing involved. I've had female cats in the past, and I have to admit that I don't know if I enjoyed them as much as I enjoy my guys.

My female Zoe (R.B.) was my shadow and definately chose me. Her brother Theo ( R.B.) was very ,very attached to my husband. Maya and Bodhi are very attached to me but since Maya doesn't want to share me I notice that Bodhi is spending a little more time with my husband these days. So we don't really know yet,as they are not a yet a year old.

My boy kitty is very afraid of men, including my husband, and this breaks his heart, because he loves the kitty so much. If the kitty hears any men's voices or footsteps, he runs and hides. Since he was a shelter rescue, we'll never know what was in his past that makes him so scared. My husband gets his feelings hurt by this, and I try to explain to him that the kitty is not doing this on purpose. Of course, the kitty is also afraid of my daughter, because she's extremely loud and boisterous (typical teenager). I guess it's not so much gender as it is mannerisms. I teased my husband that maybe he should act more effeminate around the kitty and then the kitty would climb up on his lap once in a while.
The legend says that Mohammed adored cats. When one of them was sleeping on his sleeve and he had to go out, Mohammed supposedly cut off the sleeve so as not to disturb his pet.

My male cat, Louis doesn't like women. He had a bad experience with one of my daughter's friends chasing him when he was just a kitten. However, my son just got engaged and Louis just loves the girl. I keep telling them that Louis will be my wedding gift to them. Not really - we would never part with Louis.

My guys seem to love women more, but I think that is because of me..and being with them. My girl, Allie, loves everyone, and the other two are too shy to love anyone but me. In fact, Minnie doesn't even love me!!!

I agree it seems to be more manners than gender. My 2 boys like quiet people. They spend most of the time with my husband and try to share their headbumpies etc. very correctly between the 2 of us when I am here. When I'm alone with them however, then Tigris ignores me most of the time (what he doesn't when my husband is around ) but Filou will be very close.

Tibby doesn't really like men. Especially big men that make loud noises when they walk. But we also don't have men at the house very often. But she's slowly getting used to my roommates boyfriend, but he's a little guy. Corkscrew just really doesn't like anyone. It's taken him a year to love me. It wasn't until recently that he started comming to me for attention and occasionally jumps on the bed at night and sleeps with me.

Thanks for the great signature Kay!

Moby's more of a daddy's girl, but will deign to accept scritches from me. Diva and Diamond are friendly to everyone. Smokey the younger is generally shy but friendlier to me. TicTac is definitely a mama's boy, even though it's mama that takes him to the vet. Bosun is definitely a daddy's girl, but will come to me to play "paws" through the balusters.

Cam is definately my baby, he will follow me around. And if I am in the house and he is hungry I have to go and stand with him while he eats, and either pet him or talk to him Silly cat. Also if I am laying down he comes and snuggles as close as he can to me. He can be cuddly with my fiance but it is usually when I am not around or am busy.
