    Another cat killer in CT...

Stanislaw Ternacki was charged with 7 counts of animal cruelty when he removed 7 cats out of an abandoned apartment, tossing them from a stairway onto the pavement. The ones that were still on the ground were then beaten with a 2x4.

He applied for AR and Psych AR. Judge Hillary Strackbein denied his AR saying the crime was too heinous. He didn't qualify for Psych AR.

    A deal was struck:

2 years in prison suspended after 4 months and two years probation and no animal contact. At least he will have a record so when it happens again, he'll REALLY do some time.

This man has had a smirk on his face every single time he showed up in court. He has till July 30th to decide if he wants to take the deal or risk a trial.

I plan on writing a victim's impact statement on behalf of the animals, thanking Judge Strackbein for doing right by the animals.

That same week, this same judge sentenced another abuser to 2 years in jail suspended after 45 days with 2 years probation.

This woman is my new BFF!!!!!!

    Stay tuned!!!

Accelerated Rehabilitation. It's a program for first time offenders. If at the end of his AR period, he's a good boy, his record would've been expunged (erased).

The one thing we didn't want was for him to have no record, so this is a milestone!!! They passed a new law in CT that second time animal abusers face harsher prison time.

Can we clone that wonderful judge? While she's definitely needed on the bench for these cases, it would be great if she taught animal welfare in judge school.

A few years ago there was an animal cruelty case here in New Jersey: on one of the coldest nights of winter, a woman abandoned a cat in the woods. Someone witnessed it and she was arrested. When the case went to court, the judge sentenced her to spend one night alone in the woods where the poor kitty was abandoned. She was taken to the spot by the state police who stayed there all night to make absolutely sure she served the sentence on what turned out to be a brutally cold night.

It's great to know there are judges out there who take this type of crime seriously. The animals need more like them!

That's really good to hear about judges like that. Here's hoping for many more. And for more people in general to take animal abuse as a serious crime.
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
