    Jersey - Dog with HGE

IMOM.org has an urgent case. If you have any words of wisdom about HGE for Jersey's family or can afford to donate towards his surgery, please visit his thread. http://www.imom.org/community/index....0&#entry120530

I wasn't sure what HGE is but the IMOM caseworker defined it as:
"Hemorrhagic GastroEnteritis (HGE) in dogs is a sudden-onset episode of diarrhea, often very bloody in nature. Some dogs may vomit. The exact cause is unknown, but there are many theories. Stress may play a role in the development of HGE. This disease may affect any breed, gender, and age." Source: http://goo.gl/QShqB

That sounds very similar to what Digi has. Except we know what causes it. Shes allergic to red meat, dairy and shellfish(not sure on the shellfish, but since it does give her wet poop I avoid it just encase). We only learned of this allergy due to the fact I watch what I feed my dogs & pay attention to all signs (part of my anxiety). I ran personal tests & to see what would happen is I only fed chicken for 2 weeks, then fed beef. BAM horrific results.. Ran them a few times & came to my conclusion, some foods upset her tummy (I didn't think allergy at the time)... anyways a tiny crumb of cheese nearly killed her a couple years ago. Pepto Bismol is our savior! She hates it, but it keeps her out of the ER when she gets into something shes allergic too.

Jersey is at a new vet at the moment. The new vet thinks it may be pancreatitis and not HGE.

$365 in donations came in and IMOM pledged the additional $335 from their emergency fund to get treatment started.

You can follow his progress in the link in the first post.
