Is your cat right pawed or left pawed?

As you know, we humans usually write and do other stuff with either our right or left hand - though, some use both equally easily.

We noticed that when Fister covers his sandbox, he always uses his left paw, often standing outside with the right.

    What a subject!

Tubby is definitley right pawed! He does everything with his front right paw, such pretend to cover his business in the litter box (although he mostly misses and nothing gets covered), reach out to touch us when we're not petting him enough, etc.

Peanut on the other hand, must be ambidextrous (sp?). Sometimes she uses the right, sometimes the left, whichever is most convenient I guess.

Funny, but I'm not surprised that Fister is left-pawed.

I read once that left-pawed is dominate in cats.

I asked Edwina whether she prefers to use her left paw or right paw...her response..."That's what YOU are for!"

Seriously....on the occasion she bothers to pretend to bury her waste (message to Edwina...scratch the LITTER...not the rug underneath the box!) she uses her left paw!

I'll have to pay more attention. It seems in retrospect that Livvy and Cassy (particularly Cassy) are equal opportunity destruction machines...
I'm sometimes asked "Why do you spend so much of your time and money talking about kindness to animals when there is so much cruelty to men?" I answer: "I am working at the roots." -George T. Angell, reformer (1823-1909)

Bastet prefers the ambidextrous approach relating to destruction. Although she digs a big hole for her business she uses her left to bury. Being a fastidious cat - she buries then comes back and buries some more before running helter skelter for a few minutes.

I will have to pay attention. Our litter boxes are covered and the cats have a room all to themselves, so I don't see them in a box usually. Except at least one cat gets in one of the boxes just after I clean them

I have only seen Twidgit so far, and she seems ambidextrous. She covered mostly with her left, and put on the finishing touches with her right.

    Mitty

Mitty is definitlyleft pawed, she does everything with her left paw, play with toys, and scratch. Telling if yur cat is left pawed or Right pawed is something yuo dont look for very often.

It took me a couple of days but I have determined that Hayley is right pawed.

Gus is definitely left-pawed! Whenever he reaches out for anything or wants attention he uses his left front paw. He also uses it to smack his brother Squirt, who seems to be ambidextrous and will use both paws for important things like treat-grabbing, litter rearrangement and brother-smacking.

I'll have to watch my furkids, however, I did notice one of them burying her litter with her left paw. It may have been Tiger. This is an interesting thread, I will definitely watch (all 20 paws) whenever I can.
