Bless you for taking her away from what must have been a horrible life for her and thank you for having the courage to include this information in her profile for all to read. Those of us in rescue and at shelters have been trying for so many years to get people to understand that cats also live the same disgraceful life as dogs in puppy mills and it has to stop - and it only will if the public educates itself. The rescues and shelters are overflowing with healthy animals (pure bred included) who are being killed by the hundreds of thousands per year, or being abandoned on the streets to fend for themselves and die at a young age for a multitude of reasons (starvation, poison, cars, etc.). It's too bad that people can't get jobs where they use their own skills instead of pimping out animals to pay their bills.

I also have a cat with long hair and was told by two groomer friends of mine that cutting a cat's hair too short is often very uncomfortable for the cat (very itchy when it grows in), if the cat goes outside they are more at risk for skin cancer and heat stroke and frequently the markings of the fur change. Just fyi.

Enjoy your tribute Ashley - you sure do deserve it. Let's pray all the kittens you were forced to bring into this world found a loving home like you did.

This is Norman (King of the Palace in Montreal, Canada) channeling through our KatMa. Two other indoor kitties live at The Palace, my brothers, Felix the Prince who rules The Palace with me and Baby-Rascal, Prince of the Realm of the Bachelor Apartment. Baby-Rascal lives downstairs because he is FIV+ and I'm too old at almost 16 to have the http://www.drugs.com/vet/fel-o-vax-fiv.html to protect me. Felix is going to have that treatment. Ebony is the Prince of the Palace Grounds. Ebony has come since 2008 to dine but won't let our =^..^=Ma rescue him. And since August 1st there is Ivory who came to our =^..^=Ma for help. Ivory's two black kittens (born August 5th 2011) rule The Nursery Bathtub of the Bachelor Apartment.

I must tell you, beautiful and darling Ashley, that as my =^..^=Ma keys in on the laptop channeling my thoughts, she is crying and very angry that a person could do that to you: treat you as a profit-making kitten manufacturer then discard you! The Pussycats here at The Palace & Palace Grounds can tell you our =^..^=Ma would gladly drop that person out of an airplane right onto an Iceberg in the Arctic Ocean in Northern Canada or on the Alaska, U.S.A. side of the Ocean. We could all then watch how that person handles being trapped like you were in a confined spot with no way out!

Our family -- human and feline -- are thrilled and delighted that you are Cat of the Day -- a very deserving honour for beautiful, purr~ecious you. Celebrate with your fur-siblings and your human Purr~ents who are wonderful beyond words. We are all rescued kitties and know how wonderful it is to suddenly find out you are now a Royal Feline, co-reigning over a big palace with Purr~ents who love us and will do everthing for our well-being.

=^..^=Ma will take photos of Ivory and her beautiful kittens, Licorice and Raven. Today our kittens are 9 days old, safe and sound. When they are between 10 and 12 weeks, they and their Momma, Ivory will be adopted by loving human families who will keep them safely indoors and care for them all the days of their lives.

I'm so glad you have a wonderful home and loving purrents now. Even though it does seem you think they are your kittens since you bring them gifts of feathers. Ashley, You are beautiful!! I read your story and felt sorry for you because you probably had been a breeder cat and then discarded. Your life has changed for the better. I can tell from the writeup that your humans love you very much and you love them also. Congrats on being COTD!

BTW My Luke sports a lion cut about twice a year. I've never noticed any itching or anything uncomfy about it. On the contrary I think he prefers his short hair especially in the warm hot months. Kay in NC

This is Ashley's mom just saying thanks to all you kindhearted pet-lovers who have complimented her today. Love & blessings to all I've enjoyed reading the comments so far and I always enjoy reading how special everyone's pets are. You all have such beautiful pets with wonderful stories too. Yes, Ashley is the Queen of the Household every day and she knows it. She's the only female cat now since Annabelle died about 4 months ago. Now Ashley just has 2 cat brothers, Lucky & Vincent. Ashley also has learned to get along well with our black Lab-mix, Mona. When Ashley first came here, she hissed a lot at the dog, but we now have kitty-doggy peace. Ashley will be celebrating her COTD status by indulging in a can of sardines for supper! Those are reserved only for special occasions. Have a nice day wherever you are!

Thanks to your Mommy for checking...I'm so very sorry to hear of the passing of Midnight, and of Annabelle, but no doubt you and Lucky and Vincent and Mona are all chipping in with your love and antics, helping to heal your purrents hearts, keeping a smile on their faces! My Persian boy Oliver (who has your exact coloring, btw), get his lion cut once every year, in summer, and he looks adorable and feels wonderfully free...for a few months, when he wants his winter coat back!
