Grand Rapids is COOL!!! ????? !!!!!!!

A recent article in Newsweek Magazine labelled Grand Rapids, Michigan (my cat Bob's home town!) a "dying city."

Grand Rapids responded this past week with the record longest one-shot lip-synching video, to the tune of Don McLean's "American Pie", nearly 10 minutes long and featuring more than 3,000 people:

The Grand Rapids LipDub (NEW WORLD RECORD) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPjjZCO67WI

    Is this awesome, or what??!!!

    MSNBC says so: http://technolog.msnbc.msn.com/_news...ids-is-awesome

    The Brits agree! - http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/864574-...ng-along-video

The video and story behind it were featured on Inside Edition this afternoon (a sure indicator of Coolness), which was how I found out about it.

    It's very cool!

If I could name only one reason to go up to Grand Rapids, it would be this:
    www.meijergardens.org
Gardens, greenhouses, sculptures, and in the summer they have a concert series.
Praying for peace in the Middle East, Ukraine, and around the world.

I've been Boo'd ... right off the stage!

Aaahh, I have been defrosted! Thank you, Bonny and Asiel!
Brrrr, I've been Frosted! Thank you, Asiel and Pomtzu!

Meijer is a name to conjure with out there.. They have superstores a la Walmart all over the Midwest, I think. I would love to see the Gardens some day.

Maybe I should make a trip to Grand Rapids one of these days!.. It's only about a 2-hour drive away, but the only time I've been there (or almost there) was when I drove to suburban Kentwood to get my CH-boy Bob. Grand Rapids has always had the reputation of being very conservative, very Republican, very white-bread. Maybe it's getting a little more interesting these days?!
