White pelicans at the dog park

I do believe wildlife in WI has been coming back strongly over the last several years. A few years ago I saw a bird on the Fox river and thought it was a pelican but it stayed all summer too far out to see well. The next year there was another white bird and a baby eventually. Now we have thousands of white pelicans. They still aren't near as used to people as Canadian geese so its hard to get close pictures but I stood in a bush on a peninsula in the middle of the dog park pond to get these.

Wow...that is pretty awesome! When you see Pelicans sitting in the water it is amazing to think they can actually fly.
