Ring worm ... in me

Okay, I introduced a couple of new cats to my herd a few weeks ago and neither of them exhibited ANY signs of ring worm. I kept them isolated, no ring worm. Well I let them out to interact with everyone after a couple weeks. So last week I noticed this "scab" near my elbow...it turns out that it is ring worm After than I did a thorough scan of everyone and it turns out only one cat has ANY symptoms.

My options are to let it runs it course (generally 2-3 months) or to try and bathe EVERYONE and treat myself. I am leaning towards just waiting (because I do not want to bathe multiple cats multiple times ... that is just not a pretty picture). Besides the oral drugs to treat ring worm are just NASTY (for both felines and humans).

But that was just a capper to a baaaad week!

Oh, Cheryl, sorry to hear that! Would covering the rash and treating it topically lessen the chances of it spreading?

Ringworm seems to be one of those deals where if you treat it, it clears up in 3 months and if you don't it takes 90 days. I hope you feel better. OTC stuff that is used for athlete's foot can be used on people (it's a very similar fungus.) Good luck!

I am covering mine with a bandage and using Lamisil to treat it. So I am crossing my fingers that it does not spread on me. But I don't really have the option with the furry ones.

It's like the old saw about a cold...leave it be and it gets better in a week, etc.

Sorry for your bad luck with this one! I got ringworm from one of my cats about 5 or so years ago and it took forever for it to go away. I think I ended up getting some sort of prescription cream from my doctor. I think it is just one of those things that has to run its course unfortunately.
