    Newly agressive dog!

    Hi everybody. Heres my story:
My 3 year old dog and I just moved in with my friend and her 1 year old dog. The dogs were and still are friends, but my dog is becoming increasingly aggressive and territorial over bones and toys. This morning she even bit me when I tried to take away a bone she stole from the other dog. I am pretty strict with her and have established my dominance, so I don't understand this new behavior or know how to handle it. Any suggestions?

You just posted another thread saying Thanks for nothing," but it may be that others just missed it, like I did the day you posted it. I was shoveling snow as we were in the middle of a two day storm then.

You need to reestablish not dominance but control over your dog. Do you make sure to spend time with just her? Does she still get walks, etc. with you? What is your normal routine, in terms of treats, food, etc.? What breeds are the dogs, and are they both neutered?

We'd really need to know more to be able to help.

This may be why some of us didn't respond. This is such old school thinking (like back in the 1940's) that some of us just considered this to be a troll.

I don't know if you'll even see this, since you were so taken back that no one responded to you right away.. but here goes anyway.

Sounds to me like she's responding to the move. I moved out of my parents house with my 5 year old GSD mix and into a house that I bought. After a little while she started biting people!! She had never done that before, luckly my parents agreed to take her back and she went back to being the perfect dog!! She just didn't take the move well!! I hope you're able to help your pup thru the move and stop the bad behavior.

Usually people who have one post on this forum never come back to read their answers. I normally see 1 post and consider it a troll or somebody who is generally uninterested in having real advice on their pets, but I honestly didn't see your post to begin with. You really need to give us more information on how exactly you "establish dominance" and what the situations are where she guards and exatly how bad it escalates. 3 sentences isn't much.

If they are going to have high value items like a bone, never have them in the same room together. That's just a recipe for a disaster!

Hehe.. I had kinda the same idea, but as Joliebucket said on the other thread, ""thanks for nothing you all are animals"". So I didn't speak, how could I if I'm an animal?

I was not posting much when this was originally posted....would be interested in an update ! I think the root of the problem was the move, new people, places ect. Our furkids get so used to a routine - the slightest thing will throw them off. Anyhoo - would like to hear from you as to how things are going !
