    Sparky

He was found on their doorstep about 12 years ago, they had been adopted! I say "they" but it was their son the pretty dog adopted.. He had appointed himself guardian of this boy and alway kept a watchful eye on him as he grew into a young man. Many dogs had tried to claim this house as home but none were ever allowed and always turned away. This one though, refused to leave the back door mat. Every time the boy opened that door, that dog was faithfully on that mat waiting and ready to follow him where ever the day took them.

It soon became obvious the dog who was now being called "Sparky" had won their hearts because a dog house was built with that name on it for him, he was taken to the vet and was taken care of there and settled in, to watch his boy grow up into a fine young man. His boy graduated from High School, worked some here and there and decided to join the Marines and had left him behind with his family while he was off doing what Marines do. Many people came to love Sparky, you couldn't come to the house without being greeted by him, he was after all, part of the family.

None of us ever remember Sparky every doing anything to be scolded for, he was just a GREAT dog! A faithful companion to his boy and a wonderful part of this family.

Sparky had not been well lately and we knew his days were numbered just due to his age so I was not surprised when I got the phone call from Rie this morning that their Sparky had been found lifeless this morning.

This has alway been our favorite picture of him when he was young and healthy and so full of life and it just shows what a beauty he was.. You will just have to take my word that he was just a GREAT DOG!! I lost my Grand Dog today..

Sparky boy, You sure will be missed. Thank you so much for coming into our lives, refusing to leave and being the wonderful dear soul you always were. You are laid to rest out by Sasha and as a dear friend here says so often, "we shall all be together again, some fine day!"... Until then, wait for us at the Bridge.. What a great Friend you were!!

I am so sorry for your loss.

The title of this actually caught me off guard. My friend also lost her dog Sparky (female) to the bridge today as well. So two Sparky's will meet up and make the voyage together.

    RIP Sparky
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Sparky will now watch over his boy, and the whole company of Marines, as a Border Collie/whatever mix, he is smart, determined and stubborn enough for a whole troop. Take a few minutes to rest, Sparky okay? You go find my Sheba dog, she's been up there a good long time, but as she was once a stray as well, and became the best, smartest dog ever, I am sure she'll know all the good spots and can show you around while you get settled in up there.

Thank you Grandma Laura, for telling us Granddog Sparky's story. He sounds like a great little guy, and he certainly was a determined little soul.

RIP Sparky, and peace to your humans too.

It gave me a very odd feeling to see the name "Sparky" in Memorial.
