My kitten won't respond to anything

I have a nine month old kitty. So far I've only had a couple of problems one is that she chews on everything and doesn't respond to a flick in the ear water growl I don't know what to do Im afraid one day she will get hurt because of chewing on something bad like cords! She also is climbing the screen in my window I'm afraid she will get hurt. What shall I do?

She'll probably not get hurt climbing up the screen, but I'd make sure its in there securely just in case. If water doesn't work, have you tried noises? Try putting a few pebbles in a clean empty soda can and taping it shut. Then shake that when she's doing something naughty - some cats hate that noise and it will disrupt whatever they are doing. Have a toy she likes handy to then substitute for something fun and approved to do - and let us know how it goes!

As for chewing on cords, you can try the substance called "bitter apple" that pet stores sell - it tastes nasty, and if something tastes bad, she'll likely move on. The other course of action is covering or hiding all electrical cords - that's what we had to do with our rabbit. Paper towel tubes are great for this!

I would say for sure to get this baby some Cat Furniture.. Like a Cat Tree she can climb & some kitty toys to play with.. Also in time maybe get your baby a play mate.. Hey we would love to see pics of your wittle baby.. For sure keep the spray water bottle handy to squirt her when she is chewing & or ect..

The best thing for your kitty? Another kitty, similarly aged. Perhaps a 6 month old. They will play and play, and leave other things alone.

Cataholic is right on the money. He's bored and needs a playmate.

I agree that your cat is most likey very bored and would do better with a playmate. I do have two younger cats,Alani and Blaze, who will be 1 soon and they are still destructive even though they have each other and 4 older siblings to play with. Luckily they haven't tried to chew on cords. They just destroy anything that's paper or cardboard. Good luck.
