Battle of the Blades matches up female figure skaters with male NHL stars. The pairs appear in weekly shows and the winner(s) get a good chunk of money to give to their favourite charity.

Near the upper RHS of the page this links to, click "Watch". This shows some background of what the NHL players and figure skaters go through training for Battle of the Blades. A bit long, but well worth watching as the hockey greats land on a whole new planet called Figure Skates.

Reminds me of a friend, Kristen, who was quite a good figure skater in her younger years. When we were in our mid-20's she decided to play women's hockey for the first time, and nearly killed herself when on hockey skates for the first time she just reflexively pulled a figure skating move that relies on the toe pick!
