Thursdays #395 Labor Day a week late!

Well, we had to put off Labor Day for a week in here, something about a birfday or sumtin....

So, how about a belated labor day party?

It's a bit cool here in the Southern Tier, so a pot of stew seems to be in order.
Stew, fresh bread and drinks at the bar.

Don't know what the usual barkeep is up to, so let's keep him and Phred in our prayers.

Hmm, a tad warm and humid here for stew, so maybe some crusty bread with tomatoes and mozzarella, any basil in the garden?

    Basil?

Nah, we don't have any basil..............

just enough so we're not going to need to buy any for a while. Entirely doable, bruschetta and melt the mozzarella over it in the oven?

Oh, cool - make some basil vinegar while you have so much, fun and yummy over salad in the winter!

I'll have mine cold, and unmelted, thanks!

Bruschetta for me please with a lovely glass of white wine. Sounds great.

Will Patch be coming to this party to play with the little orange kitten?

All the best to Phred and Richard! Hope they are back soon.

Bruschetta (night be yellow bruschetta, but it tastes just as good), cold and unmelted.

One glass of white wine. DONE!

I'll have some of my stew and a Sam Adams.

Patch will be coming, whether I want him to or not......he's been up to no good.

I'll have to post new pics.....there's one of Lady with a Patch mask.

We just turned the air conditioning back on here, so soup isn't speaking to me. I have PLENTY of fresh basil from the garden to share (just gave a whole cup to my neighbor for pesto), so bruschetta and a big glass of wine would be wonderful. Thanks interim barkeep.

    Herbal insanity?

Let's not go there. I'll be working tonight, much to management's displeasure.

Oh, pick some leaves early in the morning, and put in pretty little bottles, pour white vinegar in, and by Christmastime, you'll have scrumptious basil vinegar to give as gifts! Basil vinegar over ripe tomatoes - yummmm! Great for salad dressings, too!
