    Teeth-cleaning rings

Have you ever seen those large ring type things that dogs are supposed to chew to clean their teeth? I hope you know what I am talking about here...I've seen them at both Petsmart and Petco. They are greenish, kind of look like they have bits of sand on them. Come in packs of 4. Anyway, I've wondered if those really work or what.....and they had a package of them in the clearance bin at Petco for really cheap. I bought them and gave one to Nebo. It doesn't say anywhere if the dog is actually supposed to eat them or not, lol. But after Nebo chewed on it a bit.......he started shredding it. It looked like they were just made of cardboard! And he was literally eating the cardboard! I had to take it away from him so he wouldn't choke or something. Has anyone given these to their dogs? They seem kind of dangerous to me.....at least if the dog was left with one unsupervised.........'course not every dog is like Nebo, lol....

Keegan and my other dog Shai loved them.
I swore by them with Shai.
Keegan doesn't really need them as bad, and I can't imagine that Nebo would need them either due to his age.
They are a mess tho. It says to give them in an easy to clean area.
I accidently swept a peice of it up in my sweeper and my dad had to use the air hose to get it out and after it shot across the driveway, half of a dog biscuit came out !!!!!!!!!!! I don't have any idea when I swept either of them up!!!

I do not give them to my dogs because they do not need them. I brush their teeth, give the CET chews, have regular dental check-ups & cleaning if needed and give them plenty of hard kibble & treats. They are made of cardboard & am not sure if it would be safe to be eaten. Maybe check w/ the manufacturer.

I tried them with Dixie and Dusty and hated them! I worried about them digesting cardboard too. It gave both of them the runs and the mess I had to clean up just wasn't worth it. I also brush their teeth so I'll just stick to that.

Well Nebo doesn't really *need* them either, as I also brush his teeth, and he's very young. I just wanted to see if he liked them, and if they worked at all. I don't think I'll be giving him any more of them. I really think they should be properly labled as to "not for consumtion" or something like that......I don't know, maybe they *are* supposed to eat them, but I'm surely not going to let my dog eat cardboard! Although he would like to! lol
