    Slow down, you clown!

    Police catch speeding clowns

Police have tracked down a couple of jokers who were snapped going through a traffic speed trap in full clown costumes.

It turns out not to have been two new arch-criminals for Batman to track down, but instead a pair of revellers who had got into character before setting out for a party.

Now driver Martina Oberle, 31, has had the smile wiped off her face after she was fined £110 for speeding in Moerschwil, Switzerland.

Wearing blonde wigs and with full clown make-up Martina and pal Bettina Blauch, 26, were running late for a fancy dress party when they were caught doing 60mph in a 45mph zone.

"I saw the flash and thought: 'S**t - that's going to look strange to the police'," said Martina, adding that once they realised they were in hot water they raised their spirits by partying even harder.

Officers who had to track down the owners of the Volkswagen Beetle were less than amused at the pair's antics.

"Speeding is no laughing matter, not even if you're wearing baggy trousers and a red nose," said one.

"I suppose we should count ourselves lucky that the wheels and the bonnet didn't fall off."

I guess it really wasn't a clown car...only two inside?

There could be more hidden in the trunk

Going 15mph or more over the speed limit can at an officers discression be concidered reckless driving and is grounds for arrest in Nevada at least, not sure what the laws are here though. They are lucky that they only got a fine!

I didn't realize Nevada's speed laws were so strict. I was driving across hwy
50 one night coming from my sisters, in California, on my way to a bike expedition in Colorado. I did not drive under 90 all the way from near Reno to Ely where I spent the night. I did notice the next morning that leaving Ely there were police everywhere. It is a good thing they don't venture out in the desert at night or I would have been in big trouble.

I got pulled over by the cops years ago on route to a change of sex party.
My wife was wearing my black suit and had a fake moustache on....I had one of her long dresses on with a fully made up face....lipstick and all.
The cop never batted an eyelid.....he just shook his head and let us go on our way.
I've got a pic of that somewhere....I'll post it when I find it.....LOLOL

Ive spent a LOT of time speeding through the desert lol...there are way less patrols at night. The laws are in place to make sure people aren't speeding through places with kids like neighborhoods and school zones. Out in the middle of nowhere people usually get off with a warning or a ticket for a reduced speed unless they are really being reckless.
