    Irena Sendler

The prize doesn't always go to the most deserving....

    Irena Sendler

There recently was a death of a 98 year-old lady named Irena Sendler. During WWII, Irena Sendler, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. She had an 'ulterior motive' .. She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews, (being German.) Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack, (for larger kids..) She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.. During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants. She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely. Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it and reunited the family. Most had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted.

Last year Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize .. She was not selected.

Al Gore won, for a slide show on Global Warming..

I have a deep respect for Al Gore and what he's trying to do for this planet, but I agree that this woman would have truly deserved the prize!

Who gets the prize often seems pretty darned mysterious, it's not like it's an open vote or anything. I do think it's nice that the movie was made of it, and hopefully will live on for years and years, making her name and sacrifices known.

Yeah, the mind boggles when the winners list comes out.....I have no idea how they come up with some of those decisions.

What a wonderful human being. I'm glad this movie about her will be shown soon, and I hope that leads to her and her efforts and accomplishments becoming much better known by people at large than if she had been the Nobel Prize winner.

I certainly would have voted for her to get the Prize rather than Al Gore, but my invitation to be on the Committee must have gotten lost in the mail or something.
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

Your invitation was never sent mate, Al Gore has banned the use of postage stamps and envelopes amongst his team of hangers-on.....something to do with paper being made out of wood.....you know de-forestation, stuff like that !!! Hee hee

IMHO Gore and every IPCC member who received a NPP should give it back. While people are giving back awards Gore and Michael Moore should surrender their Oscars to real documentarians.

Yep they should, but pigs will fly before that bunch of parasites give anything back.
