    I think I've been duped

Well, Jenny (the vet tech that I gave her to who works for my vet) said that Felony had demodex... i trusted her, Jenny treated her for a month without any improvement for a localized spot... that's about the time I took Pig and Cree into get their ears done, and I got felony back in her terrible condition with her hocks. While they were there at the vet, they scraped pig and Cree and told me those puppies came back positive as well. I was like "WTF????" Because crees fur is thin on top of his head (it has been thinner than the girls since day one) and pig had a little spot on her knee where the fur was gone (I think this spot was really from Pig getting to hang in Lisas kennels... the trainer I sent Pig to that lives in the desert... on their interesting "dirt" out there lmfao).. well, i started pig and cree on that flea and tick control Promeris. They're to be treated like 2 times a month and it'll go away... well, i gave them 1 treatment... ONE treatment... all three puppies got ONE treatment from me and there was no difference... today... it makes 6 months since their first treatment and I haven't seen any signs of demodex. ZERO signs. I don't think Felony had Demodex at all in the first place... I think it was a weared spot on her elbow from the poor living conditions that she was in.

What the heck do you think? IMO I think it boils down to... jenny didn't want to keep her end of the contract on the dog... she got a free dog... I was to pay 3/4 stud fee, AFTER her CH title (which was very possible because Felony had the best confirmation out of the entire litter), and after she sold a puppy from that litter I would recoup 3,000... that doesn't even touch the money I had already put into Indigos litter at that point, I would basically be getting my stud fee back plus a little depending on the stud... The studs that I have looked at before while doing my original shopping for a puppy... Indigo (the puppies momma) range between 2000 and 5000. I don't think she liked the idea that I had rights over which stud Felony would be taken to or if the dog would even be bred. She ruined her confirmation... i can still show her don't get me wrong, but she will never be eligible to compete in the CH class towards her GRCH because of her legs/feet.

EDIT: I had such a hard time believing this because there hasn't been a single case of Demodex within the dogs last 4 generation pedigree.

That's a good link Moosmom, but I think I have rambled on for so long I kinda confused ya. I've done countless hours of research on demodex. I really don't think they "had it" in the first place. All dogs have the mites and all dogs can be scraped and show the mite. I think in poor little felonys case she was kept in a crappy envoirnment and she had a spot on her back leg from being in really bad living conditions to where she couldn't move for 22 hours out of the day, and I think in order to cover that up, they scraped pig and cree telling me that they have it too.

The girl I let felony go home with was supposed to be a friend, and it turned out she was pretty neglectful to the puppy that i gave her.

Then I wonder how come the dr's where I work don't come back with every skin scraping a positive for Demodex? It's actually not very often they find one that shows the mites.

It's not common for it to happen like that, but it is a possibility. They all have the mites it's just dogs that have a weaker immune system which are affected... the mites over populate.

I think I'm going to have another evaluation of the dogs by a different vets office. They same girl who had my felony is the one who preformed all three scrapes.
