It spooked me when I did the math for my intro...

I've come to terms that the old bullmastiff is in her senior years... but when i started doing my math on how old my cat is... it freaked me out! I never thought of her being older than the bullmastiff, but she is. I don't know much about cats... how old do they generally live? She's been such an awesome pal for so many years... It's kinda fuzzy to me... she's between 13-15 years old now. I can't remember how old I was for sure when we got her.

I love her to death and I know there will never be another Mercedes in this world.

That's not too awfully old. A lot of folks here have had them around into their late teens and early 20's.

Years ago I had 3 Siamese. The old man Ming was 20 when he passed on. The other 2 were between 11-13 if I remember correctly. Right now I have a resident stray. He showed up 7 years ago and never left. He was around 3 we think, when he showed up. He's an outside kitty - has a shelter to get out of the weather and all the good chow that he wants. He's quite content with his life, and hardly ever even leaves the yard. He knows that he's got it made!!!

Cats which go outdoors have a live span of 3 to 5 years. They encounter too many things they are not equipped to handle: cars, coyotes, etc.

Cats kept indoors live to 20 years and more. So you have more fun times ahead with your dear kitty!

Well I have to agree with Freedom, most indoor cats if properly taken care of live to be in the mid to late teens, my roomates two older kitties passed away a few years ago and the momma, Netta, was 18 and the daughter passed shortly after and was 17, so enjoy your time she will be here for a while to come

That is good to know... For most of her life she has been an indoor cat, but last year when my mom got a new frisky Cocker Spaniel puppy she needed to "escape". So we started letting her in the back yard. She never leaves the yard but sure has gotten more fuzzy with the weather. She seems to be having the time of her life now though. She loves basking in the sun on the pool deck and roll around on her back. I love this cat to death, and she's the only one I share my turkey sandwhiches and mc donalds french fries with. The dogs are SOL lmao.

My gentleman friend's cat, Tomas, lived to be almost 22-years-old and he was an indoor/outdoor cat until he was 19! That being said, most outdoor cats do not live to that grand an age. His current cats are inside only, as are my two.

Kuhio was an indoor-outdoor girl. She lived until 17 also.

My Pidgie just went to the Bridge a few days ago and she was approximately 21 1/2. (We could only guesstimate her age when I rescued her.) She lived a healthy life up until just a few weeks ago, so I'm thinking that you have lots of good years yet to enjoy Mercedes.
