One of my coworkers, Renee, was out on lunch when her husband called and told her he had found some kittens abandoned out in a field. The mother was no where to be seen and they looked to be between one to two weeks old as they have already opened their eyes slightly.
Right now, there are four kittens (three black, one tan), and Renee is trying to find someone to take them in. She's thought about taking them to a shelter, but so few around here have available space or the resources available to take care of newborns. We've also sent out e-mails at work to try and find someone who might be interested.
I wish I had the means to take one in myself, but I've just recently signed up to adopt a 2 year-old tabby and my apartment told me I needed to pay another $450 deposit to bring him home. So now I'm about as broke as they come. Sigh...
If you live in the Midland/Odessa area in Texas and are looking to adopt a kitten, send me a PM on the forums and I'll speak with Renee.

Please keep in mind that they are very young and it probably wont be cheap to take them to the vet and nurse them through this period. If you've never owned a kitten of this age, it's a LOT more work than you'd expect so just be prepared if you decide to get one.
