    The Tax Man Cometh

First, you have this. Falling income tax revenue. Duh. The economy is in the can, so of course you are going to have less revenue. Oddly, it has not stopped our dear leader from spending and spending and spending and spending and spending.... RECORD deficits and that is saying something.

Which of course leads to this.... The good ole' VAT/ National Sales Tax. Is the the "hopey changey" you voted for? Hmmmmm?

Do we as a people REALLY want a government this incompetent to have control of your health care? Do you really think that the government will stop at JUST your health care? You don't think they will use that power to tell you what you can or cannot eat or do?

I am really starting to get pissed off at the people of this country. How lazy and lemming like are we going to be? Does not ANYbody understand what happens when you destroy the producing (read: RICH) people?

But, I reckon we will simply reap that which we have sown.

It appears to me that they already do, if they can force a parent to submit a child to chemo or other treatments, against their wishes. And I can hear the masses descending upon me now for making that statement.

Sorry, but some religious sects believe it is a sin to allow artificial intervention, and even blood transfusions. I personally do not believe that the parents are guilty of child neglect or endangerment if they choose to go this route. Many have in the past, and if a child died because of it, then they have been convicted of anything from neglect to murder, but most sentences were eventually were overturned, so that must send some kind of message.

And what happened to his tax reduction that he spoke about before he was elected, reducing our income tax that would but $500 extra in our pockets each year?

How lazy and lemming like are we going to be?
It terrifies me, what is happening to our country and I can see where it is all going and we are ALLOWING it to happen.

Our country is going to change drastically, fee speech will be a thing of the past and so will a lot of other things that made America what it is. This country is not going to be what so many have fought and died for.

I have a friend that keeps saying China is going to own the USA before it is over with.

I'm w/you on this one, Ellie. Are we a free country or not? Parents should be allowed to raise their children and manage their welfare as they see fit. It isn't as though they totally refused all health care for their son. My friend in England has the same cancer as Farrah Fawcett and she has chosen to go the alternative route after undergoing chemo and radiation which was too hard on her. Granted, she's an adult but if she had children, she should have the right to choose what form of health care and treatment they will receive while living in America. Increased taxes, control of our health care system, whatever. All life chippers, slowly chipping away at our freedom.
    Blessings,
    Mary

I'm going out on a limb here. But if it weren't for chemotherapy, my daughter would be dead of a malignant brain tumor aka pineal blastoma. She is now 33 years old and the picture of health, aside from double vision (corrected by prisms in her glasses), short term memory loss and having absolutely no emotions whatsoever (can't cry, although she tried when she had to have her cat pts). She's in love and it's wonderful to see her so happy. (*beams with pride*) That's one emotion no one and nothing can take away from her. This year will be her 16th year cancer free.

Is chemo a poison? Absolutely!! But without it, my daughter wouldn't be here.

Respectfully, that isn't the point, Donna. We should be able to choose our health care treatment for ourselves and our children w/out interference from the government on any level. I've known people who have been helped w/chemo, too, but had they chosen an alternative method, I believe it was their right to do so. I'd love to have seen someone try to tell me how to raise my son! They would've seen a mama tiger as they never had seen before!
    Blessings,
    Mary

The issue is not chemo being poison. My own father is still here because of it. The issue is the government FORCING it upon a citizen.

If that does not make you shiver... Oy.

My point exactly Mary. We should have the right to choose, and not have the government forcing it upon us. Fortunately my children were both very healthy, and I never had to make any such decision. But had it been a different scenario, then I feel it should have been my right as a parent to decide a course of treatment.

If the government forces treatment on a child against the wishes of the parent, then let the government pay for the treatment too. Better yet, let's find a way to just stop it from happening.

    Sorry

I also agree with Mary and everyone else here. I think that the Government has no business telling anyone what course of treatment they SHOULD have.

Kinda off topic, but I like where this is going.

Do you support the idea of a national health care plan funded and planned for by public money? For everybody?

Is won't stop with forcing chemo on people.

Prime example is myself and the crippling side effects on statin drugs I had but yet I would probably be forced (according to todays standards) to take them even though they were making me a cripple.

I also had a friend with asthma that was given an inhalant and was told to use it although it made her worse every time she did. I have told you about her before.. She spent a year of spending a week in the hospital, several weeks in a nursing home and be sent home for a week only to end up in the hospital and that cycle continued for about a year. She kept telling her doctor that inhaler was making her throat close up and he called her crazy and threatened to call her insurance and have them cancel her insurance for refusing the "standard coarse of treatment"... He even sent a psychiatrist in to see her trying to label her something to force her to use that inhaler. ONLY when she sent her daughter to the hospital and doctors office DEMANDING a copy of ALL her records, did that doctor back down.. She went in demanding those records for a law suite because they are killing her Mama! Anyway, fast forward 10 years and it turns out a LOT of people were having that side effect and the drug now has a warning.. WE Will NOT have a choice any longer. We will be at the mercy of any and all new drugs no matter how harmful they are to us.

The point here is we will be forced to take drugs that will kill or cripple a lot of people or we will be refused treatment for ANYTHING... or we will die waiting just to get in to see a doctor because it is no longer profitable to be a doctor..

Hell, that forcing drugs has already started... read this

I have had Type 1 Diabetes for many years (54) without any complications of the disease - until I had a mild stroke. Which didn't affect me. Now my doctor makes me take Lipitor. From the very start of taking 10mg Lipitor per day, I got muscle cramps and leg twitches whilst in bed; muscle weaknesses; I even got Plantar Fasciitis and now I limp slightly in that foot. Before I took Lipitor I used to sleep like a baby. Lipitor has made me from a relatively healthy person despite having Diabetes to what feels like an old lady at aged 55. I know it is Lipitor as when I stop taking the drug all unpleasant side effects mentioned above cease. The trouble is my doctor won't give my Insulin without Lipitor and I need Insulin to live, of course. So I am forced to take Lipitor. I find that exercise such as a good long walk during the daytime helps; without it (eg in bad weather when I cannot get outside) the effects of Lipitor are much worse. My cholesterol readings and blood pressure are always good (even before the stroke) so why should I have to be almost crippled by by Lipitor?

That's what ahead folks.. The only question is when? 5 years, 10, 15, 20?

  12. I have this problem with my insurance company. They want me to go into their program for people with breathing problems...because.....over five years ago...when I still smoked....I was prescribed a medication for URP. (Whih made me sicker.)

Since I quit smoking I no longer have the problem.

But the insurance company has a long memory...and they want to force me to accept a treatment I do not want and no longer need.

And if I do not accept it they will reduce my benefits.

Which is better....decisions made for profit or for health?

For now, you can change your health plan if you like. And do you honestly think that in a government health plan, decisions won't be made on financial circumstances? If you think they won't.... Ask my wife about Canada's plan and her grandmother.
