    Cam is to smart

My cat is too smart for its own good. About half of our basement is Cam's own room. When we are not home or at night when we are sleeping he goes into this room. There is an area under the stairs that was open when we first moved in, my Fiance had put up drywall to block this up so Cam couldn't get out. Well, he figured this out and it would appear has slowly been making a nice size hole for himself to escape.

We were not sure how he was getting out at first but he gave himself away by making a big mess with the drywall one day, it was everywhere

So he has been running around going nuts, cause his scheduleis off. we have also had to let him int our room at night as he will scratch at the door. I have had very little sleep as he wants me to pay attention to him, so he talks to me and kneads me.

So now we are going to block the area off with 2 x 6's and hopefully ths will keep him in.

Another thing we have to do is put in steel screens for our windows as a couple of times he has pushed through them adn excaped. Luckily we found him both times. He is an indoor cat so doesn't ever get to far from home as he gets scared.

So I was wondering if any of you have escape artists for cats, and how do you deal with it?

Most of the time my cats are good. there was one instance though that they got out. I had them all in their room with the door closed. I had the window open because they like to sit on the windowsill. Well I was running the dishwasher and didn't hear them making any noise. My fiance came home from work yelling that the cats were outside. I freaked!! They had pushed out the screen on the window and decided to make a break for it! My next door neighbor actually alerted my fiance to my cats in the backyard. 2 jumped back into the window when they saw my fiance, the 3rd he brought in and my abyssinian would not come in. We finally lured him in with cat treats just as a huge truck was coming down the road (which would have scared him so bad he would have definately run away). Needless to say, the screens are all securely in place now. For awhile I didn't open the windows cause I didn't want the same thing happening again, but that has not happened again.
    They can be naughty!!!

When I first moved into this 77 year-old house, which has the old-time framed-in matal screens held in with a hook, I thought that such a simple system was nearly cat-proof. Yet, one day I came back from grocery shopping and founD Tiger, Tiara, and Otis all outside. I thought to myself, " I don't remember letting them out". Tiger had figured out that if she jiggles the hook, then the screen will open, then she can get outside. (smart kitty) Since then I have repaired those possibilities of them getting outside again
