Who is to blame in THIS case?

A drunk motorcyclist hit 6 wild boars in Monterey, CA.

He was awarded 8.6 million dollars from the county because they didn't keep them from crossing the road way.

The jury decided that his .10 BAC didn't have anything to do with the accident. The guy is wheel chair bound and the news report stated that the bulk of the money will go to his care.

Why is it that when people break a law-DUI-and eff up they can be 'rewarded' for their stupidity? Having a BAC that high probably impaired his driving abilities- instead the jury goes against common sense and awards this moron a whole bunch of money for riding drunk and hurting himself.

    Fricking amazing.

Unfortunately, people are no longer responsible for their own actions.

How about someone acting on behalf of the boar family's estate sue the SOB for wrongful death?

Is this the final decision on this case? This is unbelievable.

I'm going to have to join the caravan out to the great state of CA. Can we all stay at your house, Richard?

exactly. Maybe the boars were depressed and in need of counseling but couldn't get it, so they became suicidal.

With decisions like this no wonder why CA is in such a mess.
Reminds me of a case I heard that England had years ago.
A thief fell through a roof skylight got injured, sued and won.
I guess it did not matter he was on the skylight to rob the place.

I don't agree with the verdict, BUT -

I wouldn't agree to spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair for all the money in the world.

I don't Know how they could have a legitimate case. How can the county
control wild animals. Maybe they lost because they failed to post a
"wild boar crossing" sign. Go figure

They may have awarded more money if he had been sober.

We have a winner= that was exactly the main reason the county lost!

    Your prize........

I guess "Wild Boar" qualifies as free range pork. I can come to visit my sister in Carmel Valley and just wait for 'road kill' on US Hwy 1. Then I can get the Real Thing Virtual usually leaves me with an empty feeling.
