For all hockey lovers out there, today is Hockey Day in Canada.
While we live close enough to Windsor to get CBC on our roof antenna, we also have DirecTV. The NHL Channel is carrying every minute of it.

You mean there is a special "Day" for hockey in Canada? I thought every day was hockey day there! What goes on on Hockey Day?
I don't get Channel 9 from Windsor well enough here to actually watch it. I do listen to the CBC radio station from Windsor most of the time, but I haven't heard anything about that from them (or maybe it just didn't sink in?). Right now there is an opera on.

HERE you go. They explain it so much better than I can.
This is held every year in February. Lots of footage, early on, of small town hockey from around the nation.
Thank you. I think it sounds really neat. What fun! A good time to be had by all.
I'd heard before of "Hockey night in Canada" but thought that just an expression sort of like the film "Friday night lights" about the whole town coming out for the local or nearby teams, high school, minor league, major league, whatever.

Hockey Night in Canada is on every Saturday night. Starts at 6:30pm with pre-game hype. Game begins at 7pm, and another usually follows around 10pm.
You haven't seen anything until you've seen Don Cherry in one of his jackets!

Ah yes, hockey! You're right.....Canada translates to hockey, and Don Cherry is a big part of it. I've never been a sports fan especially hockey. I guess that makes me a poor excuse for a Canucklehead.
Now, if you will excuse me while I crawl back into my igloo!![]()
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

LOL if you have never seen Don... that jacket in that picture is TAME lol
he's famous for the 4 inch collars on his shirts and LOUD jackets.
I remember when they first brought out the Molson Canadian Bubba (mini keg) they came out with a Don Cherry series where all the bubbas were painted up with some of the most famous don cherry jackets lol
Here are a few pics of some wild jackets (the man beside him is Ron McLean)
An example of the Bubba's
Don cherry is kind of like Hockey's version of John Madden. sorta
R.I.P my dear Sweet Teddy. You will be missed forever. We love you.
